"The" dress does not fit!

Hi there,
I came to an important realization today, something that I think many of you here can relate to. It is time to pay attention to me and my body.

I am now home from school for the holidays. I was going through the clothing in my closet and playing a bit of dress-up. I tried on a pretty party dress- and it doesn't fit! Not even close. I wore the dress last Christmas and I felt so beautiful. And a half hour ago I stood in front of the mirror and I felt far far from sexy. The dress doesn't do up and my stomach has some how become a prominent entity. Gah.

I am joining this community because I am looking for support and advice- but most importantly motivation and accountability.

I commit now to take care of me- to make better eating choices and to exercise, instead of feeling guilty about not exercising!

I am not going to focus on the number on the scale- instead I am going to gage my progress and ultimately success by how THE DRESS is fitting on me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I know I am in good company :)

good for you for realizing you n eed to make some changes... I think what you've found is what most young adults who've gon away to college find - the freshman 15 or more.. better to take care of it now before it gets worse...

You've got a healthy attitude that the scale is less important than other measurements.

Do take out a tape measure and record your current measurements and use that as a gauge.

Welcome tot he forum and good luck..

having a solid plan for when you get back to school will be a big help for you..
