The Body and Self Esteem

Do you look in the mirror and inevitably compare yourself with the 'ideal' body type? Does your self esteem depend on how close you come to it? Do you sometimes hate the way you look - even though when compared to other people around you, you're very possibly normal, or even better looking? Do you ask yourself why you feel that way? What do you do when you feel that way?

How often do you enjoy being in your body?

I enjoy being in my body every day. Mostly because the cool factor is so much higher than other people. :yelrotflmao:

No, not really lol.

Um, i'm only speaking for me, but I find that most women tend to more self-critical than the men. It might be just a cultural mindset. I know I have a tendency to compare but then again I have to balance that with self-appreciation, otherwise if I believe all the nonsense the media feeds, I'll be going to the extreme to fulfill that expectation. On the other hand, a little vanity kicks in when it tells me it's time to get back in shape...or to take care of myself more like it... you take your pick (vanity or not).

Self-regulate for the win!

You're posting in a forum called 'body image' and ask that? LOL :)

Well to answer your question, yes. Looking good is part of my goals. Not the only goal, but definitely part of it.
