The back

What are some exercises you guys would recommend for the back, and could you describe how to do them, because I'm not familiar with them? The only ones I do are lat pulldowns.

dude if you dont even know what your doing you'd be much better off having a lesson with a personal trainer.

PT's can be expensive, but they are cheaper than back operations.

I agree, and most gyms will give you one free session with your membership.

I never said, I didn't know what I was doing. I know what I'm doing, but was simply asking if there are other exercises besides lat pulldowns that can work the back. I could probably figure out what the exercise is by the name, but a description never hurts, so that's why I asked. The gym I go to is at my college, and I'm not taking a class there, I just signed up for the pass. A PT would be unreasonably expensive for me right now, and probably unnecessary since I'm only looking for a few other specific exercises rather than trying to figure out how every piece of equipment in the gym works.

Edit-I checked out the links, and it looks like mostly rowing exercises. Which is just the information I was looking for, thanks for providing the link LeiYunFat, everyone else's advice is appreciated, however I know how rowing exercises work, so I shouldn't have to worry about injury as long as I'm exercising safely and correctly.

Lei's post has all you need then.. Be careful though, the back is very sensitive, too much stress and something will give!

Yea, you're right. It's not something I will probably put a lot of weight on or work too often anyway, just something to get it somewhat shapely, hehe. One of my friends has a slipped disk and there's a lot of things he can't do, so yea, I can probably at least learn from that, how sensitive the back can be.

Once you get different variations of rows and pulls down to an art, I would try some deadlifts. They'll build up your lower back damn well, and you'll feel it in your traps too if done correctly. But, be very careful, if you don't have the correct form, injury is right around the corner.

1 - just knowing how an exercise works doesnt mean your doing it right.

2 - you always have to worry about injury, thats how you do it safely every time

3 - you need some1 to make sure your doing it safe and correctly.
