Thanksgiving strategy

Hi all,

What is your plan for managing TG meals?

I have been considering having my lips sutured shut, but nobody wants to do it. :)

But seriously, let's share our plans.

My plan is up in the air.

well my mom is on a diet as well so it may be easier for me. I asked her to buy fruit to snack on through out the day instead of the regular crackers and cheese. We are making sweet mashed potatoes instead of regular mashed potatoes.
Other than that I'm going to try to have will power and just have one serving of everything. Try to have my plate look somewhat like it normally would lean meat, veggies and startch. Since my mom is on a diet as well we really aren't doing a big desert.
It may be eaiser for me since there are 2 of us dieting and there are only 4 of us total for TG dinner. Make sure the people you are eating with know your on a diet and will support you. Maybe bring your own healthier dish with you if your going to someone elses.
This may also seem counter intuitive, but try to have something high in fiber with some protien in it about 2 hours before you eat dinner to make sure that your not starving when you go to sit down. THis will hopefully prevent you from eating everything infront of you.
I know its going to be hard but we can get through it!

Eating an hour or so before you go to any dinner type party is always a good idea for me. By the time you get there and actually sit down to eat, you'll be able to eat again BUT you won't be starving. I always eat sometime healthy at home first.

PLUS... (i'm sure this is just my crazy imagination at work here but...) seeing how i'm from a big family (and i'm not talking about the AMOUNT of people...lol) I always feel like they are watching me to see what I eat... which keeps me on the right track. Does anyone else do/feel this? They are always asking for tips or wanting to know how I did it so I figure they are probably paying a little bit of attention. Regaurdless of if they are or not.... it's a good thing. So maybe keep that in mind.... somebody could be paying attention to what all you eat and how much.

I've also heard that drinking lots of water before you eat keeps you from over eating. The problem I have with this one is that you will get full really fast... which is good cuz you won't eat as much food BUT you really shouldn't let yourself get full.... even if it's on veggies, ya know. Controlling your portions shrinks your stomach and the last thing I want to start doing is stretching my stomach back out.
