Hi! I'm Richie and I'm 35 years of age.

Thank you for your wonderful forum. I know I'll learn so much here.

My story . . .

I lost 75 lbs. a year ago. From April 15 to January 15 of 2006.

270 to 195 :) Yep, I was formerly overweight and hadn't weighed under 200 since junior high school!

My goal now is to lose a remaining 20 pounds in order to rid my body of a gut that I've had for well over half of my life.

I look forward to the day that this comes to pass.

I try to share all of my health knowledge with others, so that they too can improve their own lives. We're all in this together! :p

Welcome!

I found this place after I had dropped about 60 pounds, working on another 20. Its a great place.

Take a look around, check out the stickies, start a 'journal' in the diary section if you like. Its a good way for people to read how you are progressing, and a good way for personal accountability.

So what have you been doing to lose the weight so far?

Hi Phoenyx! Thanks for the warm welcome.

A year ago on April 15 of 2006, I saw my clothes wrapping around me like they hadn't in a long time. I made a life commitment that day, and will always look at it as my celebrated anniversary for good health.

Changes I made include: Going back to my vegetarian eating regiment and committing to it for the rest of my life. I am going on 3 years, with a 5 month backsliding period. ( I used to have a Chick-fil-A fettish! :~)

My new motto became: No sweets, no meats, no carbonated treats.

And I have stuck to it. I have found that my greatest strength has always been a cold-turkey style of change, not gradual. That's just me.

I also began exercising regularly, and developed a very genuine love for the outdoors.

Although maintaining my diet, I did slack on the exercise in early 2008 since I'd lost around 65 lbs (Shame on me!). That has changed for the better as well.

I recently lost another 10 by going back to the gym + wiping out excess breads and salt snacks (mostly crackers and pretzels which were the only remaining ones since I gave up chips/fries/etc about one and a half years back). I had already made adjustments then, but I now became even more vigilant to remove ALL foods that could cause unhealthy fat gain. (I've even stopped eating my veggie crisps.)

I drink only tea, soy milk and water. I try to concentrate on the deeper greens. And I encourage any one I can.

I still have that 20 to lose but I am glad to listen to your methods! I've already learned a lot from the WL forum. Great stuff.

Hi Richie,

Congrats to you for the awesome weight loss. It's stories like yours that make other believe we can do the same. I value all your useful tips. The last few pounds are usually the hardest to lose. You are making all the right changes. You will do awesome and those pounds will come off in no time. As for me I have a long way to go. I've lost 20 lbs so far and have about 100 more to go. It seems like I will never get there. I know it will though.

Good luck in everything!! Keep it up!!

What a great group

Hey BB! Boy do you have a GREAT attitude.

Yes, you will. You will get there if you just keep at it. I know how it feels to start fresh, and the 20 pounds you no longer have is a testament that you *will* succeed!

I appreciate your encouragement and I will aspire to do as you've advised!

Be blessed :waving:
