Hi everyone! I'm new here and in need of some serious support and motivation.

A little bit about me: I am 17 years old, 187 pounds and 5'2 (Making me obese+)

I'm trying to get healthy to be happy and confident. I have been going through these depressed stages where all I think about is my weight and how unhappy I am with my body image. So i'm trying to do something about it! Prom is coming up quick.

Some support, tips and tricks and some people to talk to would be greatly appreciated. Also, a diet plan or excercise plan would be also appreciated. (Because I have no idea where to start!) Thankyou -Ally

Hi Ally :) I'm new to the forum as well. I know exactly how you feel about those depressed stages but that's what we're here for, support! The best tip I can give is to load up on fruits and veggies, put everything else second - good luck on your loss!

Hi, GetFitAlly! Thanks for stopping by my journal! :)

I would suggest a program like livestrong or sparkpeople to give you an idea of how many calories to eat and to track your food and exercise. I find it helpful to journal my food and exercise here as well to keep me accountable, plus you're likely to get feedback if you're feeling uncertain.

For food changes, start small, maybe cut of fast food, sodas, and/or junk food, cut portions. As far as exercise goes, just start moving more, try to take some walks or maybe do a workout DVD.

Small changes will lead to big results. Just remember to make changes you can live with. Good luck!

@Starlillies: It feels so good knowing I'm not alone with the depression stages! I'll definitely try to eat more veggies and fruits! Thankyou for your feedback :)

@Morby: I recently downloaded this app on my iPod. It's called MyFitnessPal. It is to track my calories and help me keep the calories under 1200. Its easy to cut out soda for me but bread is going to be so hard! I know I can do it though! I am going to check out those two websites now. Thank you for your help!

The other sites are basically the same as MyFitnessPal, they'll all get the job done. There's a Lose It app I've heard good things about too.
