Tearful Hello from UK

Hello All,

My name is Ruth, i'm 22 and i live in the UK with my husband. I have decided to join as i need support to loose weight. This evening i had to cut my wedding rings from my fingers as i have put so much weight on that they where cutting into the skin and we'd tried all other ways to get them off. This was the breaking point for me, past no return. After a lot of tears (and still some now) i decided enough was enough. If i had gotten so big that i cant even where my wedding rings anymore then i have to do something about it. I'm unhappy, unfit and unhealthy but all of that is going to change. I weight 15st 10lb, i want to be between 11 and 12st (depending on how i look at 12st) as i am not built to be skinny.

I start tomorrow with a weight in, but instead of going on a diet i am just going to cut out the crap from my diet, think about what im putting in my mouth and up my exercise. Fingers crossed!!

Hey Ruthy and welcome to the forums. That's indeed a very sad story and I can definitely see how heartbreaking it would be to have to cut off your wedding ring. Unfortunately, its those types of things that often prompt us to turn things around. My trigger was constantly waking up in the middle of the night and gasping for air.

If you haven't already take some time to read the stickies and go through the before and after section of the forums. They are immensely helpful. Best of luck to you and hope to see ya around.

And that's almost certainly going to get better results than going on some fad diet for 6 months and then reverting back to the same kind of food as before.

FWIW I know what you mean about the wedding ring. I wore a 10 and had to replace it with an 11. Since dropping 60lbs I wear a 9.

I just cut out sodas and processed foods. I learnt to cook rather than heat. You'll be surprised how quickly the results will come.

Good luck
