I am 5'10 348 pounds right now and my lifestyle needs some improvement. I went to the doctor last week and he said my health is in danger if I continue to live my life this way. I told him I have tried so many programs in the past and nothing has worked for me. I talked to him about different diets and exercise. I also spoke with him about supplements and he seemed to not be really big on supplements mainly because of the chemicals they have in them so he advised me if I were to try any supplements, I should go natural.

I was looking on youtube and found this video about saffron extract: .. Has anyone else heard about it? The video seems trustworthy and I saw somewhere else online that saffron extract was on the doctor oz show as well. I dont really watch that show, but I have heard good things about it.

So anyways this is the first day of my journey. In total I took in only 1500 calories and I went to the gym and did cycling at my own pace for an hour. Tomorrow I will be doing the same thing and I will be posting my results on this thread every week.

Day 1(Week 1):

348 lbs
Caloric Intake: 1500
Cycling at the gym: 1 hour

I think you may want to see other forum posts. There is scientifically no magical pill or extract etc that will help lose weight sorry.

Congratulations on starting your journey! There is lots of good information in the stickied posts. I agree with wishes - no magic, just hard work and dedication.
What did you do for nutrition and activity today?

I have spent way too much money on 'magic' supplements. They don't work for me, only a consistent exercise routine and reduced caloric intake. I eat about 1700-1800 calories a day for a 2-3 lb/week loss. However, everyone's metabolism is different and what works for me may not work for others. Good luck and you will find that as you add more entries to your journal, more people will come to support you.

Forgot to add....if you post every day and not just once a week, that will keep your momentum going stronger.... I'd be interested to read about how much and what workout you do and what you eat. When you add those details, people on the forum can offer more helpful suggestions....

Count me as casting another vote along the lines that there are no miracle pills or magic supplements worth having. They just divert people's attention away from the need to eat healthily at an appropriate calorie level and move around more to burn calories so that you end up with a calorie deficit at the end of the day.

I have nothing against people taking supplements to make sure that they are getting all the vitamins and minerals that they need - I know a lot of people that take say a multivitamin and maybe omega 3 - but these are not because of some supposed assistance in helping them to lose weight.

Stick with the hard work of keeping to a healthy diet at the appropriate calorie level and regular exercise and the weight loss will happen. The hard bit is keeping it up over the long term. People that have just a few pounds to lose can hope to get it done in a few weeks - but those of us that spend decades becoming very big have to keep working hard for maybe years to get the result that we are looking for. I know that it took me two years to get to goal when I did my big project. Most diet failures happen due to lack of patience - people getting bored with the hard work. Fight against that - and you can get the result that you are looking for.

Ditto what they all said. Don't look for some magic pill or food to eat that will make you lose weight. Work on eating healthier foods, reading labels (not just the nutrition labels but also the ingredients), and exercising.

Your first post showed what looks like good calories and a good workout. Just be sure the calories include the proper nutrition you need as well.

Oh way to go for a first day!!!!!! This is my first day, and I am trying to get a work out video by Jillian Michaels. I just have to say again that you are doing better for a first day then me. 1500 calories and cycling...You give me courage. I am at 300 pounds. Keep it up.
