Tamara's Diary

I'm waiting until this payday (Wednesday) to buy healthier foods (since I already have this weeks groceries in the house) I don't want to eat the chips or s'mores, but I don't want the money to go to waste, I'm going to make Michael (my fiancee) eat them so I don't. And when I'm at work I've been trying to buy an apple or an orange if I get hungry. I work in a super market, so it's hard not to go buy a bag of chips or candy, but I work right by the produce department, so the fruit is the first thing I see. I feel really bad that Michael's going to have to suffer through this because he's addicted to soda too, and, if it's in the house I'll drink it, so I can't buy it, at least for now.

I think cutting out the soda and junkfood alone will make a BIG difference! With the money saved, new wardrobe! :D (I have to be able to afford clothes when I do reach my goal).

Most of the time I walk 25 minutes to work, I'm going to start walking to work more often, instead of getting a ride so much. The main reason I don't walk to work as often is because I hate being tired before work, to get more tired at work, and then have to walk home. But... I'm going to start walking home from work more too.

I bought some Diet Support Multivitamins, there an off brand of the One-a-Day weight smart ones. It has EGCG to enhance my metabolism, and will help my body convert food into energy. It's specially designed to help me while I control my weight. It's not a diet pill, it's a multivitamin, so that makes me feel better.

Hello ms. Tamara. when your in the house with someone it seems to make it that much harder on you. Especially when they want you to cook them lasagna or bake them a lime pie, The dirty little.... lol..... your not alone and good luck.........

Glad to see you've started a diary Tamara! :D It sounds like you have a great plan in place! You can do this!

I got home from work at 9p, and I took a look at what's on sale this week at the supermarket I work at, and decided from that what I'll be eating this week, and I made a "menu" for myself to go by this week, to make it easier on me, because I have such a busy life. On wednesday when I get home from shopping I plan to cook all of my meals ahead of time, except probably dinner. The thing is I normally work night shifts so I need to make sure I eat at work and not when I get home late at night, that's one thing I really can't be doing, because it's not good to eat late at night.

So, here's what I've come up with for this week food wise, I have a pretty good amount of variety, I love chicken so it's all I'm eating this week meat wise. I'm paying attention to calories, but at the same time not really worrying too much about them, because I know I'm at least cutting them in half from my normal calorie intake (if not more then half). I'm used to just drinking soda all day, at least 700 calorie intake just on drinks alone, not to mention meals, so I'm definately sure that my calorie intake will be less.

Also, I can't do 6 small meals, I've tried it before, so I'm going to try to have 2 snacks, but no promises, hey, at least I'll be eating more then one meal a day.

BIG forum hug to ya Tam.

I like what I'm reading. You will ABSOLUTELY get results by ditching sugar soda and I must say, your meal plans look solid for further reduction. I love your sig !! and say it outloud in your weakest moments, memorize it, etch it in your heart and live it your mind.

You love you and we love you for loving you. You radiate the optimism needed to beat your weight.

Shine on Tam !!

Don't let that man take soda into the house! I thought I was going to KILL my hubby for a bite of his candy bar tonight; from now on, he has to eat them somewhere else :p

Welcome to the fourms. I think planning your meals is a great idea. It's hard being surrounded by food all day at work, and even worse when you have to handle all that junk food as you stock shelves or ring up orders. Having a plan should make it much easier.

And you're right: cutting out the soda will make a big difference, especially if you do the walking, too.

You're going to do this!

hey there again. your menu looks good, Im just wondering if you should change it up some. The calorie amount looks good. I just dont want you to get bored with your menu eating the same thing every day. Hate for you to binge out of wanting something different.........lee

Thanks so much you guys! I really wish I was better at supporting others aswell, but I'm sure I'll get better at it when I get settled in a little better... lol.

Hillbilly, I don't think I'll get too bored with it, so long as I don't eat the same exact things next week. I'll probably make a couple changes though (I was thinking about it)... I have NO IDEA what the calories look like on it though... I just know it has to be better then what I was consuming. :)

Here's a question? Snapple ok to drink? I mean I'll be drinking water mostly, but, what else is there to drink that actually tastes good?

Here is the calorie counter I use most of the time.

Snapple is close to the same calories as a coke. Ill have to look it up but its probably close to 110 calories per serving and remember most things will be more than one serving. The diet will have less but prob have that diet taste that will take some time getting used to.....

hi

crystal light is a great alternative to "water". or unsweetened tea (at least that is what my nutrionist told me)

i like to drink the grapefruit juice and rapsberry tea flavored crystal light. im not sure if anyone else likes it or not. i actually prefer the taste of water. my downfall is milk personally. when I was pregnant I was drinking upwards of 2 gallons a week. Im still around a gallon even after I had my little man.

Good luck and look for my diary soon. I have GOT to do this and thank heavens for this site. I think its going to be great for me!

"Morning, Tam! Check out Fitday.com. Nutrition info, records of what you eat, nutrition, activity and calories burned break downs--lots of good stuff, and the basic version is free.

You MIGHT get bored with the same things each day, but it's easy to change it up some. For instance, take that chicken breast and saute it with some onions and broccoli one night; then serve it over rice. Or cut it up and put it over salad. There's lots of ways to change the "feel" of food, and you'll get used to it as you practice. You have the world's biggest cookbook at your fingertips, so go have fun!

You can drink lemonade and other flavours that come without added sugar! That's like 2.4 calories per serving, it tastes amazing and it helps you take in more water!

:)

tamara eating the same thing everyday just seems to make you want real food that much more. If you can eat mostly the same thing everyday and not get those huge cravings good for you, I never could lol.... If chicken is your meat of choice just remember you can do just about anything with it. Its so bland that it will take just about any spice or herbs you want to add to it.

Tam there is a recipe thread on this site. Maybe check out some for next week if you find you get bored this week. Sounds like you have a good plan for the week and that is a good foundatin. Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much for the advice Hillbilly, normally chicken is all I have anyway, I'll try it this week and mix it up more next week. I tried mixing it up a bit with the snacks and some of the meals on other days (I'm more worried about cash this week), thought that might help with me not getting bored with it. I was pretty sure snapple would be just as bad - a girl can dream :p, thanks.

And Pineola, I didn't know there was a recipe thread, thanks so much for letting me know!

Crystal light and the lemonade w/o sugar sounds like great ideas too, thanks so much I'll give it a whirl! :)

yea money is a big issue when your on a diet. food company finds out your on a diet they jack the prices through the roof lol..... chicken is always on sale someplace... have fun and get creative..... good luck........

I got my paycheck a day late... so, I'm starting Friday instead of Thursday.
I precooked it all tonight and I pre packaged up tomorrow's meals. A bit off the original meal menu, but, pretty much the same. :)

You should try chicken in the oven in same quantities of lemon and olive oil and lots and lots of oregano. You can add lemon zest too. :)

Half the adventure of dieting is discovering new non fat deliciousness.

xxx You're doing great! Keep it up and it will melt down before you can turn to look at it go. :D
