Taking a break from weights

Hi everyone. I'm 17 years old and basically my goal right now is to lose weight i have an 18% bodyfat... really want to get to 10% before i start bulking.

Now I'm having problems with my left shoulder. It's fine when i let it rest but as soon as i start to do something like military press or any intense shoulder exercise, my left shoulder begins to hurt really bad after about 2 reps while my right shoulder is completely fine. Its sort of a sharp pain and then as it worsens it feels as if its going to pop out or something.

I really don't remember what i did wrong to start getting this problem, but i believe it was from lifting weights, i just don't remember clearly.

I was thinking about taking a month off and letting it completely rest and hopefully heal. However I'm scared I will lose a lot of muscle especially since i'v lowered my calorie intake in order to lose weight.

Would you guys suggest i take the month off and continue to lose weight with just cardio + diet. Or should I lift weight but with light weights and see if it heals.

- Thanks =]

you can still do lots of exercises without using your shoulders all that much, so don't give up on that. Do what you still can for a week without using it much and see how it feels. If it doesn't improve or is bothering you daily, see a doctor of some kind as its probably injured.
Muscle loss doesn't occur that rapidly, you have nothing to worry about if you're still staying reasonably active

ide go get it checked out at the doctors. u definately injuryed it. but with any injury, u'll need to take extra time to stretch that body part from now on. taking more time to warm it up with lighter weight and stuff. but don't worry about losing muscle. everybody has something called muscle memory, if you do get smaller in a month of rest, when you hit the weights again, it'll all come back. and probably with a vengence. i took a year off from the gym and dropped 30lbs in about 6 months. within the 1st month of training again i gained 15 of it back, and now im heavier and more cut than ive ever been. ive gained about 40lbs back
