Take That Cheesecake Factory

Today my g/f and I were out doing some shopping and we decided to stop by the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. This was my first time ever eating at one. All I have to say is I am so glad I was with the g/f. She is such a support system in my life. We both live the same healthy life style. We eat well together, and exercise together all the time.

We ended up spitting a white bean hummus app, and the fresh fish tacos entree. This being my first trip to a CF I was unaware of the HUGE portion sizes. We split the tacos and I still walked out of there stuffed. The food was excellent though. I really enjoyed it, and having split a meal I walked out of there not feeling very guilty at all.

Take that! Bam!

On a side note I did not know that CF was so secretive about their nutrition information. After a little bit of searching I was finally able to find it.

Good for you!
And you're lucky to have such a great, supportive girlfriend!

Thanks for the idea of splitting portions with someone. I'll be visiting the USA this summer and I bet my family will want to take us to Cheesecake Factory...and probably many other places, so i'll try out your idea.

This in mind, I 'd like to start gathering nutritional info that will help me continue to eat healthy. Where did you end up finding the CF nutritional info?

The g/f and I recently starting splitting meals when we go out, and it works great. Here in the US of A you can generalize pretty accurately that the portions in a typical restaurant are at least 2 to 3 times bigger than a healthy sized portion.

The splitting works well. Its easier on calories, and on the wallet.

Here is where I found the info for CF.

Wow...humus and fish tacos...not at all what I'd expect from somewhere called the Cheesecake factory :) And I agree with Rox, awesome that your g/f is on board and supportive. You are really lucky. My husband mentioned maybe getting on board today....but he knew I was mad at him for something else so I think that was just a redirect tactic, lol.

Yeah, they have more than just cheesecake.

I can't tell you how great it is to have that support system in my life. It makes all the difference in the world.

Kind of like a toddler that tries to get out of trouble with an adorable "I wuv you, mommy!" Nice try, there.
I hope he does start up for reals, though. Having a diet and exercise buddy at home would be the greatest!

And thanks so much for the link, Trumpet Guy. I'm going to print out some info and take it with me on my trip. And you've inspired me to look up lots of other restaurants that my parents and friends might be thinking of taking me too. It's really giving me more of an idea of what good choices are in US restaurants. It's not always what I think! For example, salads can be an awful option-and Ceasar salads are the WORST!
(btw- Are you really a musician or is your boardname for some other reason?)

I really am a musician. I am a classical and jazz professional trumpet player.

Enjoy the US. There are a lot of great places to see, and eat.
