Tabata Squats (HIIT basically)

does anyone know how many calories this would burn (on average) if done for 30 minutes?

i eat between 700-800 calories a day (a lot of veg and am aiming to do this for 30 minutes everyday, with longer rests every 4/8 minutes ofcourse =)

my love handles (is there a better word for them?) are 40" and i wanna lose my the excess fat so if i do those tabata squats for 6 times more than recommended* everyday with my 700-800 calorie intake, would it be effective?

*if you haven't heard of tabata, it's basically a form of HIIT made by a japanese man whose first name i forget but surname is tabata. he created it for athletes training for the olympics and i read that you should do it for 4 minutes a couple times a week

Hi, i don't know how many calories it would burn, but there is a reason that it's only suggested to do a few times a week. It's a very effective way to improve cardiovascular function, increase strength and improve body composition.
It's also very hard on the immune system. I'd be concerned that a calorie intake so low wouldn't be able to support the demands it places on your bodies ability to repair itself. Even if your nutritional strategy was specifically tailored to maximise uptake of key nutrient combinations required-loads of reds and green leafy veg, i think you'd be better to start with 4 mins every other day, start with a and follow with a cooldown.
If you're determined to do it every day, pick one or 2 exercises per day, and try not to focus on the same muscles 2 days in a row.

*remember, tabata squats is 80reps in 4 mins, or thereabouts. are you planning on doing 600 squats/day?
I generally disagree with severe calorie restriction, because going below 1.200 kcals per day essentially trigers starvation mode.

...
700-800 calories a day?

Have you been doing this for a while, or did you just start?

And if you've been doing this a while how in the world do you still have a love handle and suffering severely?

I wouldn't recommend doing anything like tabata or HiiT with that low calorie diets. That's virtual suicide.

lol yeah, my sister said to me ''if your eatin that little, you should be stick thin right now!
i've been doing it for almost month - started on march 1st

i've been doing HIIT since december/january but i've had a pulled calf muscle since november '10 and i find tabata squats are easier because they don't strain that pulled muscle though i've done 30min tabata squats for 2 days in a row and my quad muscles are killing me! but these pains don't stop me because i've started noticing my stomach flattening but i'm not entirely sure about my love handles reducing with the tabata squats(?)

Probably would be best at this point to ask how tall you are and what you currently weigh in at then.

700-800 calories is simply too small. If you maintained that much calories for close to a month while keeping an active work-out session daily, then you should be suffering some severe physical problems unless you're very quite short.

The point of exercise along with eating less is to use up all the calories that you gain. Exercise itself really isn't necessary in order to remove body-fat, it just makes it easier and ensures that you don't look like a skeleton when you're done. In fact, squats aren't exactly the most effective ways to burn fat, simply because it is far too taxing on a certain muscle group and really shouldn't be done everyday unless you want to risk muscle injury. If you're doing squats while your muscles hurt that much, then you're pushing it.
