Swimming for cardio

Just a question about cardio traning..
many people say swimming is a good form of cardio
and i read that cardio is the most effective when your stomach is empty so that your body will draw energy from your fats.
However, if you go swimming with an empty stomach you'll most probably end up with a leg cramp.
So should I still eat before swimming and how much to eat so that my fats still burn?
 
thanks! that was an interesting topic...hmm seeing that i eat (quite alot) after swimming...maybe i should change to running instead..
well but thats for after the swim, so how about before the swim?
 
yea, swimming is the best thing you could do for your body. I wouldn`t eat much before swimming, just a bit. Stay away from heavy foods
