Weight-Loss

Was just over at the diet soda thread and read what you guys were saying about aspartame. I use that in everything (equal), but if it's going to hold up my weightloss process I would like to know about other alternatives.

Just when you think you're on the right track...

Before I started using the equal, I was using natural cane sugar by florida crystals. The problem with that is the calories. I was trying to create a no calorie ice tea.

What sweetners do you guys use?

Bonnie

Splenda isn't bad... and I beleive it's natural sugar....

But I'm really trying to get away from any kind of sweetener at all - I love iced tea and am drinking it with just some lemon.. and it's good (my current kick is Stash's Green Chai Tea Iced... It's got a nice cinnamonny kick to it that's really good)

And if I make good coffee, I will happily drink it black...

I guess I should be trying to stray away from the sweetners. I'm thinking stevia, I used to use that, but its way expensive. It might be worth it and a little goes a long way.

Thanks maleficent

Just a quick question for ya. What do you use for a sweetner in things like oatmeal? I put dried cranberries and raw sliced almonds, both from trader joes in mine. I also use 3 packets of equal. I may try it tomorrow morning without the equal.

Anyhow thanks again maleficent

I'm not a fan of oatmeal - it's got a consistency that i can't deal with.. but I woulld probably put some cinnamon or just a touch of nutmeg on it... (or even get some pumpkin pie spice mix and sprinkle that on..)

Why not try just a little bit of brown sugar... you won't use near as much as you would regular sugar and well it tastes so darned good.. Or honey.

Stevia, from what i've read of it, hasnt been approved by the FDA, and it's been declared, by the FDA as unsafe.. *but if you google Stevia and the FDA, there's a bunch of conspiracy-ish websites around that it's a big business plot against Stevia...

WilliamB02: hi im from Cohens Lifestyle group and we are recommended to use Hermesetas (spelling??). They dont like anything too artificial and those bad chemicals like aspartame so i presume this is ok. I use it in coffee- thats it. Need the tablet version (comes in granules also but is aparently not recommended) though. One for me isnt enuf but 2 is plenty. Just play around with the taste- u will quickly find what works for u. If using it in coking or cereal disolve in teaspoon of warm water (can crush and disolve if u want). Its really cheap (im in Australia so its $3.50 here) and one to try :)

I don't use any artificial sweeteners. In fact, I hardly use any sweeteners at all. I sometimes put a teaspoon of honey in my yogurt but that's about it.

Why not just forget about sweeteners?
