Sweeping the leg of obesity

Man obesity fights dirty! I feel so overwhelmed at times because every step I take forward I seem to take 1 and a half back. I do this two step with my weight each and every year and I do fine for a month or so and then I gain more back only to repeat the cycle over and over.

I need to make some changes so I will start going to the gym a minimum of 5 days a week and actually work out hard while I'm there. With the help of my BodyBugg I will make sure to walk a min. of 10,000 steps a day on top of my workout and shoot for a calorie deficit each and every day. My biggest issue is food logging so I will weigh and measure everything I eat or drink (unless it's water).

I'm big 345lbs so I am aiming for 3200 calories in and 4200 calories out. That's a 1000 calorie deficit a day and in theory should be 2lbs per week. The best thing is I should be under 250 before my birthday in June of next year.

The whole thing is can I do it? I went to an OA (Overeater's Anonymous) meeting today and I feel like maybe I can so it's time for me to at least try.

Does this seem like it will work or are my goals to far out there?

Welcome! And I know you can do it. Trust me, I feel the same way that when I get ahead, I seem to somehow end up back two paces. Just remember that you are doing this for YOU and that you do not need to make a lot of goals or anything, just let it happen and do your best. Holding yourself to certain goals may, at times, hurt you. It's FANTASTIC to have goals, but don't make it about "when I get there..." be excited that "I lost 2 pounds this week, HECK YA!! GO ME!" lol. =D

Went to the gym this morning for an hour and 15 minuets and walked for an hour after I got home. I figure I will concentrate mostly on cardio 4 days a week and do weight training 1 or 2 times a week until I get under 300lbs then I'll be more balanced.

LOL I've been eating right around 1800 calories and working out an hour and a half a day and guess what.. I'm up 3lbs. No big deal or reason to panic I'm sure my body is just trying to adjust so we will see where I'm at next week

sounds like you've got the right attitude. You said "i'm eating around 1800 cals" Does that mean your not writing it down?? Its possible you might be eating more than you think and that MIGHT have something to do with your 3lb gain. I'd write down what you eat, at least for a week and see what next weeks weigh in does for you.

No I write down everything. I said around because my highest day was 1830 cal and my lowest 1725. So I am keeping track of exactly what is going in.

Got on the scale today and I'm down to 340.1 lbs. I realized that I had been eating to much sodium and that may account for some of my issues.

Just got back from the gym and I weighed myself I'm now 335.4. Almost down enough to use my wii balance board (Max weight is 330lbs). Feel so good and my clothing is actually fitting comfortably now. My wife is now thinking of trying to change the way she eats and maybe go with me to the gym more often.

Down to 328.9 but I'm also down almost 8 inches in my waist. I decided that I would try to be more active each and everyday so I have started increasing my step goal by 50 extra steps per day. My weight is kinda stuck right now but you know what that's fine because I'm not gaining and I'm seeing a drop in inches. Also my blood sugar levels are a stable 90 before meals 115 after meals (SO I wonder if I'm still diabetic)
