Hi folks,
So here we go. This week I got a fire in my belly and a determination to get going with some fat loss. Briefly, I have gained about 4 stone (56 lbs) in the last 4-5 years mostly through eating too much delicious cake and a lot of stress eating. Now after going through the gluten free/clean-eating/paleo/lift weights/do HIIT/detox get hungry - binge - repeat cycle (which resulted in me basically becoming a yo-yo dieter) I've decided to ditch it all as for me personally anything that restricts food groups, and makes me "afraid" of eating certain foods really doesn't work. I appreciate it is great for some people, depending on health circumstances/lifestyle etc, but for me it just didn't work. SO - back to basics.
The Plan
Create a calorie deficit, using myfitnesspal to track where I'm at, and to pay attention to my macros to make sure I'm eating a sensible balanced diet with lots of nutritious food.
Exercise 4-5 days a week for 45 minutes with long walks on rest days. Exercise to include hiking, zumba, pilates and some body strength exercises. Hopefully incorporating some weight training in a few months once I get going.
To get plenty sleep and to look after my mental well-being as I would my physical well-being.
Weigh in once every six weeks to avoid overly stressing about the scale.
The Stats
I'm female.
Height: 5ft 10.5 inches
Current weight: 17 stone 1lb (239lbs)
Current dress size: 18-20 UK (depending on the shop)
Goal weight: 13 stone (182lbs) - I'm realistic, I love food and at my height I'd be grand at this weight.
First goal weight wise: get under 17 stone.
First goal exercise wise: climb my favourite local hill in 40 minutes from bottom to top.
The mindset
Stay calm.
Don't overthink.
Use all the tools available to me.
Enjoy my food and my exercise, if I don't enjoy it I won't stick at it.
Gradually bring all aspects of health into better alignment.
Lifestyle change ... not yo-yo diet.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Here I go! Argh!
