support needed...

Hi...I am so happy I stumbled onto this site. I am really in need of some support. I am 5'6", and 215lbs. Last yr., around the same time, I decided it was time for me to lose the weight. (then I was weighing in at 198lbs.) I feel so helpless. My husband shows interest in my sorrow. He will talk the talk, but like me, just doesn't walk the walk. He doesn't have a weight problem. I don't understand why. Well I take that back...hehehe...He does work at a job where he is constantly on his feet, while he is there. I know the problem is with me...noone is responsible for me gaining the weight. But I get upset at him. To give an example: He says he wants to help me eat the right things...but then brings home candy bars, cookies, and ice cream, that he knows I can't resist. He doesn't eat sweets..so I am confused as to why he does that. I would Love 2 meet some friends that are stuggling with obesity. I would also like to meet some friends that have almost gotten down to their ideal weight (inspiration :)) I have attached a picture of myself. I took it from the cam I just got. The picture is fuzzy...But I don't take photographs anymore. I hope there will come a day when I will feel comfortable taking pics with my children. OK..So Everyone take care. L8r

Hi deb, I like the picture of you , you are really pretty and your partner might be getting the ice cream and cookies because he knows you are a very beautiful woman, and might think that if you loose the weight then you might leave him (Some guys are like that) BUT I CANT SAY FOR SURE BECAUSE I DONT NO HIM, SO IF I AM WRONG PLEASE DONT TAKE OFFENCE :).... If I lived near you I would go for walks with you :)... Do you have any family or friends who might start walking with you? Do you have any other support

I had the same problem with my husband.

I paid took whatever he bought and threw it in the bin. He threw a spaz, i threw one back, he got the idea after a while :)
Also, i paid him and the kids $1 for every hour i exercised so they actively encouraged me to do it!

That sounds like good advice, wishes. Wonder if she's the "throw a fit" type.
I just wanted to say welcome to the forum and I hope you make good use of it. It is helping me with my motivation and keeps me busy. Its my first forum.

Since your hubby doesn't eat sweets maybe he's buying them to be nice to you. He's probably not putting much thought in to it and its unlikely to be a conspiracy unless he is extremely jealous. Let me know how that one goes.

Thats very good thinking, I like the paying part. Whatever works IMO.

Good luck to the OP.

if you really want him to help you, you should remind him that its best if you try to avoid sweets for a bit while you reach your goals, you can do it and your partner is definately in a great position to give you support :)
