Thought Id put the link up for the latest episode of SS vs SS, for those that have never seen it before, it focus's on the extremes of overeating and undereating, and they swap the diets of an obese person and an underweight person for 1 week before setting them off with a diet plan.

Enjoy :D

I just watched that full episode. The sociological aspects of the show are so different then the USA. I really liked it.

I enjoyed that, actually.

It was interesting to see the opposite end of the spectrum especially. It goes to show that skinny does not equal healthy.

I really enjoy this show for some reason, even though I don't agree with some of the advice or knowledge the guy has, I really enjoy seeing how each one copes!

Wow, I was really skeptical about this. Even if you swap the diets, one is still starving and one is still binging for a week, but it worked out pretty well.

^^; it's interesting to watch .. i feel guilty hehe
but i wonder: is hoarding tons of food into the skinny person really make them feel better about food? =O I'd feel disgusted...

The Marine Corps had this idea long ago... My brother was very thin... He said they would take away the desserts from the "big" guys and give them to the "little" guys. Everyone came out of boot camp in better shape.

LowFatMilk: When did skinny ever say that it equaled healthy??? Noones ever said that. People only asssume it. It's sad really.

Don't mean to jump on you there LowFatMilk, but the stigma of being too slender or too fat swings both ways.

Thanks for the link. I'd like to watch the continuation of this show, it's really interesting, kind of reminds me of wife swap.

There are A LOT of people who believe that because people are skinny that they must be healthy. Especially standing next to a fat person.

I was simply saying it as proof to society, not proof to myself.

geez.

I was only able to catch this show once, but I really enjoyed it. Hope it is a hit. Really provides some food for thought.:smash:

I think it does addresses an important issue:
super skinny doesn't always mean super healthy.

I am not only talking about eating disorders: You can be slim and not have the nutrients you need because of a poor diet and not exercise at all. it is funny how some people assume for instance that skinny women don't have cellulite. you can have tons of it because it is mostly a circulatory problem.

both sides of the coin are bad for you- and you should always try to stay on a healthy weight. we all like to indulge from time to time but balance is key.

also it is really cool to see that the grass isn't always greener on your neighbor's yard!

I love this show--I spent probably like 5 hours watching it the first day that I found this post! I wish they aired it in the US.

ugh. my perception is so screwed. many of the superskinny girls don't look abnormal to me :( i've been paying too much attention to the fashion scene.

i may need to detox my body - i REALLY need to detox my mind :puke:

Exercise is the key...

I think wether people are too thin or too fat, its important to incorporate exercise into your life somewhere... that is a big component of health

Absolutely fascinating. I'm watching this 'summary':

I find that I am easily influenced by how those around me are eating. I guess this explains part of it! I love eye-openers in general, but this one is really great I find!

I have a co worker who is very skinny 5"8 or 5"9 tall and 105lb
She had a stroke at the age of 17......and her cholesterol is so high that if she eats anything fried her hands and feet feel numb. Also she is the person with the dryest and thiner hair I have ever known. To me over eating or under eating is the same thing they both equall unhealthy! So the answer is try to eat clean but even too much of healthy food is bad balance it's all about balance!

:iagree::iagree::iagree: In my early twenties I had a friend who was also in his early 20's. He was a thin guy and most people would look at him and assume he was in great health. However he was in very poor health and had a stroke, he was told that if he wasn't careful he would die before he was 25. It's sad that people who are thin feel like they don't have to worry about their diet and exercise, these guys end up with high cholesterol and a whole slew of other health problems. People need to learn that you can't judge someone's health just by looking at them.

And to add to that, I have lost too many friends and friends of friends to anorexia. Its mainly through heart attacks, even when they have gained weight they are still at risk. See when you diet too far and lose too much weight, the body stops using fat for energy and starts to use muscles. It varies as to where the muscle comes from but when the anorexia is bad it begins on the heart. Even gaining weight it still takes time for the heart to repair and so too much stress, either physically or emotionally can give the heart too much work and can result in heart failure.
