Supersets

Can someone please tell me the benefits of superseting any exercises. I know it makes you work harder and raises the heart rate but my main question is if it is detrimental to trying to gain size and if there are any rules that should be followed when choosing to superset certain exercises.

Thanks

It increases intensity..it givves a tremendous pump and gives each muscle group involved a minimum chance to rest and recuperate..u can use it as a shocking principle..

i superset push-ups on my 1 min rest with my bench press, incline flys and decline bench press ..and ive seen a amazing results..and ive been able to get out of my plateau..:)

Supersets are great for cutting down on time, keep up your heart rate, and working different muscle groups.

They are not detrimental to size gains.

Supersets can be done with the same muscle groups, like logos doing pushups with benching, however supersetting is more commonly used with different groups - not even necessarily opposing. For example, supersetting squats and lat pulldowns.

How do you go with the sets of bench press etc... after doing some pushups. Does the fatigue mean that you do a lower weight on the bench press and how many pushups do you do?

I'd suggest you do different groups when supersetting otherswise you get pooped really easily!

I do benchpress with barbell curls
