Superhydration?

Hello All. For the past few years I've read about methods of weight loss that involve large amounts of water including Dr. Batmanghelidj's Water Cure which involves drinking half of one's body weight in ounces of water each day with Celtic sea salt mixed in, a program called the Before, During, and After Diet by Blake Sylvia which involves drinking one glass of water before, during, and after every meal, and the concept of Superhydration which I didn't find a lot of information on, all I pretty much got from that is drink a gallon of ice cold water per day.

I've actually done the before, during, and after thing with some success in the past. I'm not sure why I stopped because it fit perfectly into my life and I was losing weight. Anyhow, I'd like to know if anyone else has had any experiences with using large amounts of water as a weight loss tool or if anyone is interested in trying it with me.

I have not posted a lot on this forum in recent years - but can say that a few years back when I was very active on this forum - a lot of people were trying to (if not succeeding) on drinking half your body weight in ounces of water... we didnt mix anything in with it - and cold water (straight out of the fridge) was considered better.

Obviously this is more of a struggle for heavier people as they get more water to drink...

This was for a number of reasons - to help reduce water retention, reduce risk of constipation and it followed the recommendation of one of the sports institutes (I cannot remember which one off hand)... Since sodium causes water retention - sea salt would be the last thing that I would want to mix with my water though...

I can say that it was one of many changes that I made during my big weight loss project.

Now that I have gained a bit of weight - I am doing it again (with quite controlled eating and a lot of exercise) in order to attempt to bring my weight back down to my goal weight.

MrsD2b - I do not know a lot about Superhydration but of course water plays a huge role in weight loss. Generally, I like to look up Online Calculators (I search Water Calculator for weight-loss on google) to see what 'experts' recommend that I drink to lose weight. Usually I take an average of what I found on a few different ones and try to go a little above that when I can.

Also, drinking water before during and after a meal will help you feel fuller and help you avoid overeating. To be perfectly honest, I don't think it really helps me feel full cause I love food so much I'll just keep eating...But that's more of a food addiction problem than the water not working.

In addition, changing up how you drink your water can help you drink more and have more benefits. For instance, adding Apple Cider Vinegar, or drinking warm water with lemon to help boost your metabolism.

Sometimes drinking TOO much water is a waste of time and causes more trips to the bathroom then actually helping with weight-loss. I'm trying to find the articles I read about it, but I can't right now.. If I do, I will send em on over
