My names Peter I'm 23 and I live in western CT. When I was 21 I tipped the scales at a shocking 327 lbs, today I'm doing a little bit better, weighing in this morning at 193.6. Don't let the progress fool you, I might be 90% of the way to the finish line, but as with most races it is the last 10% that will kick your ass.

I've yo-yo'd a bit over my weight loss journey, I've actually been a lower weight that this at one point (but higher body fat). I'm finally on the path to reaching the level of body fat I desire and meeting my goals.

My Plan:

I am mostly vegan, eating fish maybe once or twice a week, but never eggs or milk.

I limit calories to 1850-2000 a day and work out 5-6 days a week.

I eat low glycemic foods in the morning and pre work out for the slow burning energy to keep pace with my low caloric intake

I track daily food with Loseit! an app for android phones or iPhones.

My gym routine:

Daily 40 minutes of cardio burning atleast 650 calories

Day 1 chest and abs weight training/conditioning (lasts 50 minutes on average)

Day 2 back weight training (lasts 40 minutes on average)

Day 3 arms legs and shoulders weight training (lasts 50 minutes on average)

Original Weight: 327

Current Weight: 193.6

Goal: approx 174 (9% body fat)

Today's nutritional break down:

1854 calories

59.9 grams of fat (of which 6.8 grams was saturated) 28% of total caloric intake

14mg cholesterol

235.7 grams of carbohydrates (of which 51.4 grams was fiber and 116 grams was sugar) 49% of total caloric intake

112.6 grams of protein 23% of caloric intake

Why weight loss is important to me:

When I was extremely heavy losing weight was for health reasons. Part of it was to prove people wrong as well, I was once told by a doctor it would be nearly impossible for me to get below 240, luckily for him he said nearly. But more than anything else now it is about feeling good about myself. Everyone likes to buy nice clothes, nice cars, a nice house, a nice watch, sure I'd like most of those things but more than anything I'd like a better me. Getting to my goal isn't something I really think of as a race, yet I do have a rigid time table I want to stick too, but as something that will be life long. I want to be a healthy person. I need to be a healthy person. My entire family is over weight, my parents, my brother (one is, the other started working out when I did and he was lighter at the time hes nearly got a 6 pack at this point), my aunts and uncles all. As a result every day I hear about their slew of health problems and it reminds me of a quote.

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" - Hippocrates

I want to treat my body with respect now. I'd never go 2 or 3 weeks without showering, eating, changing my clothes, or brushing my teeth. So why would I go 2 or 3 weeks without working out? Our bodies are designed to run, jump, climb, and crawl. I want to do it all. Then when it comes to fuel I wouldn't pour mud in my cars gas tank and expect to get very far. So why would I feed myself crap and expect to get very far. People claim I'm depriving myself with my diet, I just think people have gotten so use to salt, msg, and fried foods that they don't realize how awesome a pear is. Also snap peas are amazing, light, refreshing, crispy, yum! Back in December I was up to 231 Lbs again, and I decided to become a mostly raw vegan (cept for the fish to treat myself). In just under 3 months I've shed almost 38 lbs. I don't see it as weight loss I see it as my body returning to its natural state that my wrong turns took it off of.

I'm looking forward to post here as often as I can to great some sort of public accountability for myself to keep me motivated! Feel free to ask me any questions or give me any advice, I welcome both.
