Stubborn stomach fat..

First off, thanks for reading. I am a younger guy (25) I'm about 6'1 and 196 lbs. The only place on my body that I retain fat it seems is my midsection and sides. It's not extremely bad, but I would def like to work this off. I've recently started lifting weights again (about a week or so) and I'm doing cardio this time as I never did much outside of warmups in the past. I'm doing my version of HIIT which is 25 mins on stationary bike at 1:1 ratio. I don't think I'm going absolutely as hard as I can...but I am beat afterwords and want to gradually work into it. I've only been doing the "HIIT" for four days now...is this a good way to trim stomach fat? Any suggestions def appreciated...btw I can see an outline where abs would form if that makes any sense like I said I'm in good shape but could be way better :)

The best way to lose weight ant tone up is through weight training. It must be intense training, where you are using multiple exercises in your workout.

A good example of something you could try would be this.

Complex
Hang clean 4x6
hang snatch 4x6
overhead squat 4x6

repeat 2-3 times. This will get your hear rate up, and also help stimulate testosterone throughout your body. Which will help stimulate muscle growth. Also because you will be training at a high intensity, your metabolism will stay elevated from anywhere up to 12-24 hours.

Thx man. I'm doing weight training, but not hardcore like that. I'm doing splits back/bi, chest/tri, shoulders/legs and a LOT of cardio. I'm doing cardio every day, and people say that you cant and it will wear you down...but I'm seeing no signs of that and I'm in pretty good shape and young(25). I'm only doing the HIIT 3 times a week and steady-state the other days. Will this work? How often should I do the exercises you listed? Thx again.

Stomach fat...
How is your posture? If you have poor posture it may look worse than it actually is, look at yourself side on in mirror, if your back is very arched and your stomach sticks out then you have poor posture, tuck in your belly button, straighten that back, tuck in glutes! You will notice a huge difference to the look of your posture...its a matter of getting your posture correct by doing different abdominal exercises!

WORK, WORK, WORK!!!

Getting rid of stomach fat is not going to happen through rigorous cardio and a good diet, yes it will help but get with the program...Stomach exercises such as crunches, planks, sit-ups, hanging leg and knee raises!

All these abdominal exercises and many many more will help you with your problem (the same problem i have).

Cardio is NOT the answer...these will help ----Cardio, healthy eating (intake of protein, glutamine and keep yourself hydrated) and ofcourse abdominal exercises!!
Try incorporating into your abdominal workout a 65cm exercise ball and medicine ball, great tools for working those abs!

Hope i was some sort of help! :D

Sounds like you're doing some really good training for it (and some good suggestions above as well)...

Even though I'm a huge believer that exercise is the best way to maintain weight, I think when it comes to losing fat around the abs, it usually always takes some disciplined eating habits (combined with serious exercise of course).

I don't think it needs to be anything too dramatic, but smaller portions here, a little less sugar there, and before you know it the 6 pack will appear :)

Hi mate,
Cardio all the way to lose weight - every exercise must be performed at maximum efficiency. This precludes any kind of weights if you want the fat to come off. You can judge this by wearing a heart rate monitor - any kind of circuit based routine will show the heart rate gets nowhere near and then be sustained as to what can be achieved through cardio. Work smart,
Regs, Jon

Could also be subcutaneous fluids.

Drink more water. I don't know how much caffiene you have in a day, if any, but you should be drinking plenty o water. You'll shed about 5 lbs of retained water weight in a few days.
