Stubborn fat

I use the elliptical trainer (30 minutes) and I do weights about 5 times a week. I also eat reasonable healthy, but I can't seem to get rid of the fat on the inside of my thighs and in my midsection. (Mainly my stomach)
My arms, shoulders, and calves, and very slim and toned, so I feel a bit out of proportion. Should I try to change my diet or my exercise routine? Or maybe both? I feel as though I'm going to be stuck with this stubborn fat no matter what I do! :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Note: I started my current exercise routine around July of 2005

I'm around 5'7-5'8 and I currently weigh about 129-130 lbs.

post your diet because there in lies the answer. Just list a normal day of what you eat, when and calories you take in the best you can.

Food

Breakfast: Either egg whites (equivalent to about 3 or 4 eggs) with picante sauce in a tortilla or a bowl of total cereal with soymilk
Lunch: Protein plus bar, light n fit yogurt smoothie, light string cheese, a 100 calorie pack snack, fruit, bag of veggies (carrots, sugar snap peas, etc.)
Dinner: My dinner is usually different every day. The following are some examples of what I may have:
-pasta with spinach and cream sauce
-vegetarian chicken nuggets, yogurt, and fresh veggies
-bean soup
-cooked tofu with sauce (I'm not sure of what kind of sauce it is)
-2 vegetarian corndogs with ketchup, yogurt, and veggies
Snack: Either a banana with peanut butter, hummus and wheat thins, fruit and yogurt, or cottage cheese

I saw a nutritionist about 4 or 5 months ago and they recommened that I eat 1800 calories a day. I was able to do so for about 3 months, but lately I haven't been able to eat as much. It's like I'm just not hungry enough to eat 1800 calories a day. :\
I don't know if this is important, but just so you know, I'm a vegetarian.

Hi Tie,
Have you tried HIIT training ? Also, you say you weight train 5 days a week. Are you doing a split routine or are you doing full body workouts in those 5 days ?? Starting in July 2005, so you've been training 8 or 9 months now, do you change routines or are you doing the same things ?? As far as your diet, are you just eating one "snack" a day or are you eating one between breakfast and lunch and also one between lunch and dinner ?? Is your water intake adequate ?? I am not a vegetarian, but I am thinking you may need a bit more protein in your diet, I could be wrong. Maybe there are some other vegtarians on here that can give you more help with your diet that I can. Well good luck with your goals :) I'll try to be of more assistance, if I can be, in future posts.

Hello.

As you mentioned the rest of you must be toned because you certainly do not have a lot of weight for your height. Do you know your body fat %?

I am also a vegetarian. Protein is VERY important. Most likely there is an overload of carbs and not enough protein. Also, you should change your fitness routine every 4-6 weeks.

How many calories per day are you eating? If you are toned everywhere else, but just cannot lose the little fat around the thighs... it could be that you are not eating enough, that you have plateau'ed, or that this is the way you were built and no matter what you do... it's going to be there :)

Most likely there are a few adjustments you can make in your menu and your routine. I regularly post 5 tips to fat loss on these boards. They may help you. If you cannot find them, email me and I will send them to you.

have you had kids? are you older? you may not be abvle to get where you want via diet and exercise.

hello, lipo! (i'm not advocating it, just being reasonable. some bodies can do it but not all can.)

I have heard of HIIT training, but I've never really tried it. When I do weights a do a split routine. (Legs one day, arms and back the next... back and forth)
No, I have never had kids before. I'm only 16 years old. :D
And I do not know my body fat percentage.
I do change up my routines a bit... but I've been using the elliptical trainer pretty much all of the time. Every now and then I will find new exercises that I can do with weights, but that's about as much as I change my exercise.
