Struggling...

So I started off losing weight fairly quickly, dropping about 50lbs in 5 months.

Then school started, then I got sick, and so on. I am really struggling to lose weight now.

I am not eating junk or anything like that, but I am finding it hard to make myself eat low calorie and work out. Part of it is the low energy from being sick, but part of it is just a loss of spirit/will power.

I don't know if I'm overeating because I'm not counting. The only plus to all this is that I'm eating only healthy food.

It just makes me sad because I had such a good start. I need to find the strength to get back into the weight loss routine.

Maybe you could benefit from a scheduled break or just a period of maintenance? I was in the same boat when school first started, feeling really stressed and not quite having the same spirit about working out as I'd had all during the summer. So I took a couple weeks off from working out and upped the calories to maintenance levels. I did that for the first couple of weeks after school started and now I'm getting back into working out more often and lowering the calories once more, and I feel a lot better! Sometimes it's just nice to rest for awhile, get your energy back, and come back to the task at hand once you're feeling better. :) And it's nice because I didn't gain anymore weight, so once I came back to working on the weight loss, I just had to start from where I'd left off, not do things over again.

Hey guys! Good advice ken! You should pat yourself on the back biggest loser! 50 pounds is awesome! Don't be so hard on yourself. Do you reward yourself from time to time? Maybe try scheduling a massage or a shopping date to get yourself going. Also, write down your goals somewhere or maybe take pics. You gotta remind yourself why you are doing this, pros, cons, yada yada. Otherwise, you won't have anything to hold you back in your "weaker" moments. And it's smart for you not to work out when sick. Wait till u feel better. It's great that you're not eating junk either...Am rooting for ya! =)

Taking a break sounds nice, I'm so swamped in work right now that I hardly have time for basic things like showers. I just sit at my computer all day and work.

I went for a walk today though.

Just hang in there. :) Look at how much you've accomplished so far. I'd say you deserve a break, like I said before. And don't feel discouraged, we're all rooting for you!

Absolutely don't let yourself get bummed over this. You've lost 50 pounds. So it's a little tough to keep going on that, but if you can keep those 50 pounds off... guess what? When you have the time and energy to devote to it, you can just keep peeling the pounds off. The important thing is not to feel defeated and look at this as an adjustment period. If you can maintain your weightloss, that's exactly the skill you want to learn for when you're at your goal weight. Think of it as practice :)

Start re-counting!
It's easy to stop when you get into a routine, but when you notice yourself start to slip, sometimes that's all it takes to get right back on track.

maybe you need some new meals to cook, i`ve been cooking lots of stews lately and just cooking chicken stew tonight for the 1st time which was nice.
