struggling

Hi ive just stumbled across this website and would love to get some support.

Im a single aussie mum with a career and two kids. I find myself struggling to find the time/energy for exercise, and to eat healthily. Too often I reach for chips or chocolate just to get myself through the day. Im overweight and I hate it.

I used to be a gym junkie and a size zero (your sizes - 8-10 in aus) but that was before I had to work all day every day.

Is there someone out there who relates to my life?

welcome to the site - do make yourself at home - you'll find tons of good information - do spend the time to read the stickied threads -you'll benefit from it...

This one is easy - the occassional chips or chocolate won't kill you - I have chocolate every day -sometimes three times a day :) Plan your daily calories to m ake your favorites work... but if your mindlessly eating -plan snacks you can have.

Pre planning will be your best friend andthe biggest factor in your success...

hey thanks for the reply.

Chocolate once a day is fine if its a little bit, but no way could I eat it 3 times a day and still lose weight :(

I do know the right things to do but I am having trouble getting out of bed in the mornings. All i need to do is get on the treadmill every day for 5 days and I will hopefully start losing weight...I always found exercise helped with cravings, I just need to stop making bs excuses!

You most definitely could have chocolate 3 times a day and lose weight. You can also do it in a healthy way. I promise you this.

Chocolate is sugar. It is an example of sugar that lacks nutrients. So what? Lots of carbs lack nutrients. It is no worse than most. It doesn't spike blood sugar levels very much at all, so it can be a snack you can have without protein.

If you were on an 1800 calorie a day eating plan, as long as the other 1400 calories a day had an adequate number of nutrients and grams of protein and essential fatty acids, you could have 400 calories of chocolate per day. (this isnt a magic number, just an example).

That's two Mars bars a day!

Yea, I definitely agree with Michael. People are always thinking it's necessary to eat 'clean' foods if weight loss is what you're after.

What exactly is a clean food? Most people associate the label 'clean' with bad carbs.

Vegetable sugar is glucose, fruit sugar is a mixture of fructose and glucose, table sugar is sucrose, a mixture of fructose and glucose. In the body, they all end up as glucose. ie ultimtely they are the same, but, quantity is the key. Healthier options (not just carbs) come with a wide range of sugar levels, it all depends on how they fit into the caloric/macronutrient requirements

To me clean just means not processed. I mean if I'm going to eat something I should be eating it right off the cow, right? LOL JK!

But when I try to stay clean - I just stay away from the junk - like chips or cookies or stuff like that. But clean eating can be so bland - sometimes. So you really got to figure out how to spice things up.
