Struggling Instructor!

Hi everyone, newbie here. I am a 38 year old Fitness and Nutrition Instructor who is struggling to look (and feel for that matter) the part. I've worked in this industry for 10 years, always struggled with weight management and hit my thirty's too soon! I seem to be going through perimenopause, lacking energy, motivation, and wondering why my body is not responding to what it used to. Any help out there? So tired of the struggle.:(

I can definately understand. In your profession, people expect you to have the appearance of practicing what you preach. Have you spoke with a doctor regarding this? You may have a thyroid problem or otherwise that is causing you to hold weight.

Thanks! Keep the suggestions coming!

Thank you so much for your concern! I have indeed been to the Doc, had a CBC (blood tests), estrogen levels checked as well as thyroid testing. Everything came back "normal". (Not sure how the standards are measured though). And for the summer, the cardio thing in the morning just might work! I teach a class every morning, but adding some cardio before class instead of in the afternoon may be a great jumpstart! Maybe this will get me going so that when schedule changes in the Fall, I'll be on track! Thanks again for your responses!
Anybody else have input?

I would go in for a blood test MID CYCLE to have them check for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). They were testing me for lupus and other nasty things and thankfully "stumbled" onto the right diagnosis of PCOS - which, sorry to say, causes unexplained weight gain and can make it pretty tricky to lose! However, finding out what was holding me back was the key for me.

Good luck!

What are you currently doing in terms of exercise and diet?

Do you work at a gym?

Welcome to the community.

Change is just around the corner!

I totally agree with cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (work it hard for 30 mins or less)

Then pick up the weights!!!

Weights help build bone, muscle, strength, and Self-Confidence!!!

Take your vitamins - DRINK YOUR WATER

Beyond any medical concerns, sounds like you need to switch it up a bit!

CHANGE SOMETHING! (your hair, your clothes, your friends, your hobbies, but mostly your way of thinking!!! It has been said that 50 is the new 30 - that puts you miles ahead of the competition :jump:)

Best Wishes!!!
