I have been on my weightloss journey for almost 3 months now and have found a few struggles. I lost 8lbs the first month and 8lbs the 2nd month. I try to only weigh in once a month because I tend to give up easily if I check more often with no progress, but I snuck in a sneak peak 15 days early and found that not only did I not lose anything yet I had even gained 1lbs (I know, not that much but what a real disappointment) but I am hanging in there!! I have stayed on top of my 30-45min daily Aerobics (a few missed days here and there) trying to keep to my healthy eating but have had a few days where family was in town and a couple birthdays to celebrate (foods I didn't prepare myself) could this result in the lack of weightloss or do I need to change routines?? I am also struggling with where I really want to see the weight disappearing from is the mid section and the butt yet that seems to be the place that it wants to stay. Anyone have suggestions for these areas to start showing results in those areas?? Thank you for your help and support

Sorry to hear that you're having some struggles! It's completely normal for your weightless to happen quicker when you first start out and then slow down. It is also rarely linear, so as you go, you will see ups and downs along the way. Your body can also get used to things and get more efficient at exercise and also at holding onto the calories that you take in. As far as seeing weight loss from specific areas, I wish I had a different answer, but there is no way to make it come off of certain parts of your body. That being said, adding in regular strength training can have really beneficial effects for both your body's ability to burn calories and your overall body shape and composition. I would really suggest that you stick with it! You're doing well even if you don't see as much change as you would like.

Hey Hai welcome to the forum!

Losing 16 lbs in 2 months is really good, so would be losing 16 lbs in 3 months. You are doing fine, PLB knows, you should not pay attention to short term bounces. If you are eating right you are losing fat, which will turn into weight loss, but maybe not right away.

I am kind of in the same position, I have not been at this as long as you have, but I lost 11 lbs in my first week, 4 lbs in my second, and then gained 1 lb in the third. Not what I wanted, but not bad.

Best of luck to you!

First, I must echo @alligatorob when he says, "Losing 16 pounds in 2 months is really good" because it is! Congratulations.

As for your 1 pound weight gain that you discovered when you peeked on day 15, I, and probably many others here, feel your pain. It is discouraging to see that beautiful downward slope of weight loss change direction ... but it's normal.

(Google "weight loss graph" and you'll see numerous images like this one)

The body is truly miraculous in its flexibility and its ability to adapt when conditions change. Ups and downs are part of this process. It's the trend that's important and trends happen over time. Be patient. Celebrate your successes and take the bumps in stride. Persevere by staying true to your goals. You'll get there!

Hey Rob! Thanks for the invite. I wish my colleague who was talking about this forum the other day had done so months ago ... I would have welcomed the support here. I struggled with consistency as I attempted to improve my diet for a long time. Her complimentary words sparked my curiosity and then HAI's post made me want to share so I did. I'm a nurse ... wanting to help/support is an occupational hazard.
