Stretching problems!

Hi

First of all let me say a big HI to all the users here at this forum. I am in decent shape. I like running, I am playing tennis 4 times a week and I am doing some body weight exercises like 2 times a week. My problem is this. If I am exercising and then do the stretching the strange problem occurs. I know this is very weird and nobody knows nothing about it but stretching makes my eyes feel uncomfortable afterwards. They become red and irritated and they sting a little. This happens just if I do stretching. If I stop the exercising without the stretching then everything is ok. So now I am really avoiding stretching which is not a good thing. If anyone knows something about it please share.

Thanks.

Hmmm...can't say I heard of such a problem, but you maybe able to get a decent reply is you get a little more specific:

What stretches are you doing to cause this?
How many seconds into the stretch, do the symptoms begin?
How long after exercising do you stretch?

Good questions.

You should be stretching before excercising, as well as after. You should do some a light warm up, such as jogging. Remember that muscles are like gum, if they're cold they can snap, if they're warm they stretch much easier. It brings increased blood flow to the area which in response give you a more effective workout.

I am doing the main stretches I got from some book about running. I lways do stretching after the workout not before. Yeah it really seems to be a unique problem. I never heard of anything like this. The symptoms (irritated eyes) begin after the workout (like 1 or 2 hours after the workout and are lasting for quite some time. Maybe I have some problems with my glands or something.

And I doubt that it's from the carpet. Maybe I should see the doc.

Good idea to see a doc..... I still have no clue why you are having an allergic reaction (unless it is the environment).
