Stretch Marks

Hey Guys,
Does anyone know a good way to get rid of stretch marks??? I know they often fade over time or respond well to cocoa butter but I was wondering if there was a quicker process that would take less than a few years to work! Any suggestions??

They'll never go away, just fade. There's all kinds of creams you can buy that claim they work. I guess it just depends on if you want to spend your money testing them all out. But cocoa butter sounds the best. That's what they gave my gram to put on after a surgery so I'm assuming doctors feel it helps with scars.

Same here, I've tried the cocoa butter cream/lotions, but just couldn't stick to it. I wasn't so fond of the smell.

I asked the same question when I joined the forums. You won't get a satisfying answer, simply because they never really go away. However, mine has gotten significantly smaller as I lost weight. I'd say less than half of their original width. My mother got horrible stretch marks when I was in her tummy, but after she lost all of the weight, they were hardly noticeable. This is my experience with stretch marks.

i wouldnt try this... i doubt it works... but once i read on a forum that this chic gets rid of her stretchmarks by scrubbing them off... she said it was extremely painful...

but i wonder wouldnt that just leave scars?!?

she said stretchmarks were just skin... and you had to exfoliate to get rid of them... idk... maybe you could research that?!?

also if you have the money plastic surgeons can use lasers to help get rid of them...

If you want the most professional and sure-fire answer available on how to "remove stretch marks", ask your dermatologist.

I tried cocoa butter a number of years ago and couldn't remember how much a difference it made at the time. It might be time to try it again. At least I'll smell delicious.

I have some older stretch marks on my arms from 5-7 years ago or something, that are still there, but hardly visible, but they never really do go away.

Thanx Guys. My sister had them when she was in highschool but they faded by time she was 23. I was just wondering. The Whole Cocoa butter thing and doing this and doing that is such a hassle (although I do LOVE Palmers Cocoa butter), Oh, and my mom used bleaching cream to get rid of hers (weird, but it works, I just remembered) She would put it on every time she took a shower (the kind used to lighten dark spots) with her usual lotion and they faded over about a year.

My friend went to the doctor the other day. She's pregnant and worried about all the stretch marks so she asked what she could do besides the cocoa butter. She said the doctor told her to use Bio-Oil. I've been hearing about that a lot lately. It's like $12 for a small bottle but now that a doctor recommended it to someone I actually know, I might try it out too, to see how it works.

This product has some good reviews, and I have read it works well. although I have not tried it. It's not a bad price .. I was planning on ordering it next month sometime..

Oh how i hate my stretch marks! Think i have tried everything!!!

My dermatoligist told me that stretch marks happen because the skin has been put under immense pressure and has literally stretched so much that some of the layers have split. There is no way to fix the damage and lotiona and oils can only help to keep the skin supple, not to fix damage that is already there. However, they do fade and as you lose weight your skin has less tension and the stretch marks become less vivid.

She advised me to use Bio-oil as can help to keep the skin supple. She also stressed that the stretch marks will be there forever :( but that they would be less noticable after a while. Eventually, they will go a sort of silvery colour and be hardly noticable at all:hurray:

One option is to cover them up (if yours bug you as much as mine do then this is a great option!) I use Dermalogica body concealor wen i know that my tummy area will be visible - its amazing and covers really well. It can be quite expensive so i only use it when i feel that they are looking really bad!

The last thing i have heard of is to have a chemical peel (ouch!) which will even out the skin tone...but still wont get rid of the damn things! Possibly too much pain for very little gain!

Sorry for the very long post! It is an issue that i am always ready to research further into!

I've also gotten recommendations for Bio-Oil from doctors.

I have used it, and it feels great on your skin and really improves your skin's texture and feel. The stretch marks faded slightly, but as everyone says, the best you're gonna get is faded silvery lines....

Massaging on a stretch marks serves as an excellent home remedy for stretch mark removal. You can either use olive oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin E oil or cod liver oil for the purpose of massage. It is the loosening or stretching of skin that causes stretch marks. To tone your body, exercise regularly.
