Stretch marks from working out growing

I have old stretch marks growing because I've begun working out again. On my left arm just above my armpit. They seem to be expanding toward the bicep. Any ideas how I can battle this?

I know there are some creams available that help fade stretch marks.

I'm curious as to how they are getting larger by working out? Perhaps you are gaining muscle too quickly and the skin can't catch up?

Sorry if I'm not much help.

I'm not that familiar with how stretch marks form, but do you think that they might just be showing more because you are reducing your overall body fat?

That's definitely possible... hadn't thought of that before. It just seemed like it was growing more towards the bicep although I hadn't considered that they were simply more evident.

Any ideas on how to stop them from growing any further? Besides stop working out :p

Have you done any measurements since you started working out? As far as I know, stretch marks appear when the tissue can't keep up with the expansion and stretch put on the skin from either muscle growth or weight gain. The best way that I would think to prevent them from growing is to slow down the rate of muscle growth, if that's in fact what's happening. I know there are products out there that claim to get rid of stretch marks, but from what I understand, it's more of the 'massaging' of the stretch marks that causes them to diminish.

I haven't done any measurements, I'll take some tonight, they might be useful in the future.

From what I've researched most products give average results at best and are very expensive.

I was kind of hoping there was something I could do to my skin to prevent more stretch marks from appearing. Like putting lotion on it before I workout or something like that. I want to keep getting stronger but I don't want a big rip down my arm.
