Stress eating

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I've been searching for an online weight loss support web site for a while now and this is definitely the best one I've found! Lot's of great information.

So a little back ground, I'm a 21 year old college student. I've been working on losing weight since around October of 2005 and have lost about 20lbs since then. I'd still like to lose about 10 more pounds but I feel that my stress eating is getting in the way of this. I find that when I feel nervous or anxious I feel the need to munch...a LOT, like I'll grab an unopened, big bag of pretzels or something and before I know it I've almost finished the bag. Either that or I'll grab cookies and candy. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has this issue and if so, might you have any advice for me?

Thanks in advance!

My mother got diagnosed with cancer last week. I am also in law school AND working.

Stress is daily for me.

I find that being good time management wise helps me. I try to plan things out early.

I am an emotional eater as well....I think that recognizing the problem can help you avoid it...but maybe you could also have an alternative---find something else to do when you feel the need to munch.

^ sorry about your mom! I hope everything works out for the best.
