Probably a question we should all ask ourselves...
What to do about stress and boredom eating? It's also refered to as 'Feeding the Hungry heart". Not an easy question to tackle since there are so many possibilities. For me instead of picking a generic activity I take a different approach. As soon as I start feeling bored that means I have time to be bored. If I have time to be bored, I have time to exercise. Bottom line. Those are the times I take a step away from my regular routine and do something I dont always do, like taichi, yoga or just a walk around the neighborhood. Or I try to be productive and start actually looking up some of those weight loss related things I hear about online but am not really too sure about, like Hoodia and HIIT and things like that.
For stress or anger, I take a different approach. Then its time to get physical. Nothing cures a stress attack better than 50 pushups in a row. And for a guy hovering around 270 pounds, thats a tall order that keeps me panting and sore enough to forget all about what I was stressed about before. Sometimes a good weight session also helps. Its amazing what a little shadow boxing or tae bo type kicking and punching will do for you. Well, for me anyways.
But for me, the bottom line is simple. If I have time to sit around worrying, stressing or being bored, I have time to do something to help in my weight loss battle......
Speaking of, pushups in the office, here I come!!!
