strengthening your back muscles?

Does anyone know some good exercises to strengthen your back? I'm a nurse, and I do a lot of heavy lifting. I know they teach you to use your other muscles, but you still need a strong back in this job. Any ideas?

deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, good mornings, rowing movements, cable pullthroughs, zercher squats

Also, check out
and look at his shoulder and rotator cuff articles

Also, hyperextensions, supermans, back crunches (might be called reverse crunches), supine hip extentions, inverse bridges.

Smart man....that should get your entire posterior chain strong and reduce any chance of injury at work. GOOOD SUGGESTIONS!!!:D

I have no idea how to do those exercises you just named. Is there a website that explains what each one is?

You might also try a consultation with one of those bright eyed and overly smiley trainers at your local gym. Ya, it may cost a few bucks for the consultation but if they have some knowldege they can help.

Here's a test... walk up to one.....ask about these movements.... if they look like their brain just got totally fried and they either point to mutiple machines or a round ball as a substitute.....he or she may not be the one to answer your questions.

Good luck
