Strength training for legs while doing cardio

I'm curious as to how to balance cardio with strenght training my legs. My cardio sessions tend to be pretty intense, my goal is to to a triathalon come summer, and I enjoy working at high resistences to "feel the burn" so to speak while cardio training. My legs are sometimes a bit wobbly after getting off the bike or which ever equipment I'm using, so I know the muscles have had a good workout, not just my heart. But I have never figured out how to properly combine strength training for my legs and the cardio. If I do a weightlifting session for legs, the next day I don't feel that my legs have recovered enough to do a cardio session. If I want to do cardio 4-5 days a week, I don't see how I can fit in any specific strength training. Any advice on how I can combine the two? Should I cool it on the cardio a bit (but that might affect future cardio-intense triathalons), or is the cardio workout enough of a mucle workout as well that I don't need to separately strength train?

Help!

Thanks :)

I have the same problem when I do cardio and my strength training is mostly upper body...I have been attempting to start doing squats which are a really good whole body exercise...other than that, I think we are in the same boat! :)
