Been workin out on and off since I was about 12, and I've been neglecting my hams, tris and chest along the way. I'm starting to get back into it now, but I'm trying to create a mixed workout.
For my body, I want to drop fat, drop 20-25 lbs, and tone with building a little muscle (more of a men's health style compared to muscle & fitness). However, I'm trying to strengthen the chest, tris and hams along the way. I've been doing 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps for the body, then the weak 3 I do 3 sets of 8 reps, some 12-10-8 pyramids here and there. I'm looking for pure strength out of these 3 groups to bring my body into balance and prevent injury. I'm also looking to trim up and lighten up for basketball, get tons of cardio going, while still being lean and having those 3 muscle groups strong. I've been looking around on the forums and getting ideas, but have seen nothing like this.
1) Is routine acceptable for what I need to do, and will it cause me to gain muscle (therefore weight) moreso than losing weight?
2) Any changes/amendments that can be offered?
Thanks all.
