strength charts?

I remember hearing my coach preach to all the guys in gym "you should be able to lift your own body weight."
Does anyone know anything about this or is there a ratio with age, height and weight?
 
i guess it depends if you are a weedy teenage boy or a 300lb man :)

I think its a load of rubbish. Im fit and strong and still can barely lift myself up, I dont think i can do even 1 pull up un-assisted even when i was doing weights. My husband on the other hand is unfit and super skinny and weedy and can do 20 at the drop of a hat.
