i seem to always have this problem. i weigh around 135, yes it sounds like a decent number for my 5'6 medium frame but, i hold A LOT OF fat on my mid section. I"m only 25 years old. it's a little bit of genetics b/c i notice it's my sister and mom has a similar issue. HOW do I GET RID of IT PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I am no expert. But I would bet you need to target your stomach when working out. Would you be interested in a video workout to do at home? You can get a DVd that will target your midsection and I would imagine, as long as you were really working hard on that one area, you would notice a change.

The only real way is to diet it off. If you're not creating a caloric deficit on a consistent basis, you're giving your body no reason to tap into fat stores.

I do wanted to get rid of some fat on my belly too. Actually, there are many options you could choose on what workout routine you wanted to follow. Here's what I do. I maintain a balanced diet with a 3 times a week workout routine. You could try it too.

You just can't target fat loss. You lose fat all over and your body decides where it comes from. Truthfully most people lose belly fat last anyway - it's the first to come on and the last to go for most people.

Keep eating a healthy and balanced diet and get proper amounts of exercise and it will go away eventually.

Targeting Belly Fat begins with an Overall plan

You just can't target fat loss. You lose fat all over and your body decides where it comes from. Truthfully most people lose belly fat last anyway - it's the first to come on and the last to go for most people.

I agree with Ms. Cooks, and since we can't target our belly fat (I know wish I could - it's the area I want to target too!), there are a couple things I've been doing lately that have made a difference.

1. Is I began exercising every day for 1 hour and I alternate the type of exercises I do. For example:

DAY 1 CARDIO 1
DAY 2 FLEXIBILITY 1 (aka Stretching)
DAY 3 WEIGHTS 1 and 10 min cardio
DAY 4 FLEXIBILITY 2
DAY 5 CARDIO 2
DAY 6 FLEXIBILITY 3
DAY 7 WEIGHTS 2

Doing these 3 different activities is important for fat loss.

2. I've taken a look at the amount of fat I've been eating in my diet - and when I wrote down the grams of fat I noticed I was eating twice the amount of the daily recommended intake of 50 grams. Now I consider myself a fairly healthy eater and I was really shocked that I was eating that much fat. You might want to read my related blog post: [spam removed]

So far in two weeks I've lost 1 1/2 inches around my stomach! My goal is to lose a total of 6 inches around my stomach hopefully within six weeks but it may take me longer. You can follow my progress at my blog.

Take care!

Sincerely,

I agree that diet and exercise is the only way to get rid of that terrible belly fat. When I gained all my weight it all went to my stomach, really I looked 9 months pregnant! I am here to tell you it does go away with time and plenty of exercise and a healthy, balanced diet. Good Luck to everyone.
