Sticking to my calorie limit but...

Well I decided it was time to start losing weight about a month and a half ago, the results have been great so far! I am not frequently weighing myself but I would assume I've lost at least 20 lbs at this point as I bought a pair of 16's I had to lay on the floor to button and I can now wear them comfortably!! Feels great.

Anyhoo, I am still not making the best choices.. I am tracking everything I put in my mouth with fitday and staying around 1200-1300 calories, of course most of those are carbs ;o Guess I am just wondering what my % of fat, protein and carbs should be?

Hoping I get better with the nutrition.. the biggest thing for me has always been SUGAR. I am such a sugar addict that just switching to diet drinks and water from soda and juice has cut my calories by an embarrassing amount. I am a constant drinker and sugar was killing me! I have no idea how I ever allowed myself to DRINK so many calories. I say that and today I blew 500 calories on a small milkshake but once in a while I have let myself drink some sugar haha..again poor choices for my calorie allowance but it's been so hard to quit candy and sugar =( :piggy:

Just noticed this is kind of a rambly post but I definitely need some advice on how to pack the most nutrition into my calories, my deficits are very bad I've noticed. Would also love to know which supplements or vitamins I should look into to help those. Clueless in that area as well!

I think it depends on your body and as you continue to lose weight, you'll see some ratios that work for you and some that don't.

So, you can try right now for 30/30/40 and see where that takes you. If you feel like you're low on energy or you feel great or whatever, you can begin to adjust.

I think what has really worked for me is going to non-processed foods, because I can eat a lots of healthy stuff and feel full of energy (I don't feel deprived).

Then again, bear in mind that I also have PCOS, and my diet is strictly for me.

I think what was valuable for me was to do as much reading as I possibly could on diets, nutrition, food, etc.

I also reduced my sugars intake significantly and I don't miss it at all. Sugar is like an addiction anyway, imo!

As for vitamins, I think you also need to start reading as much as you can on it. A regular multi-vitamin is probably a good place to start. I take that, along with a whole bunch of other supplements for my PCOS, along with fish oil and vitamin D.

800-1200 cals a day? you can't be serious. You dont even know anythign about her body stats....you just threw those numbers out there. 800 cals will put anyone in starvation mode and cause potentially dangerous effects to your body.

Really? Did you tell yourself that?

My doc told me that obese people like me could get by on 4 ozs of protein and some carbs everyday. It wouldn't be pleasant but it would result in the fastest weight loss without harmful side effects.

This is the same doctor that approves of your diet (heavy sugar with diabeties). I think your doctor is a complete idiot Jack.

As far as 0% carb : 51% fat : 49% protein, 800-1200 calories/day. Multivitamins. 64+ ounces of water.

Yeah..no. See for one, no carb is a fad piece of crap. We need all types of food. Whatever you do for weight loss should be something you can maintain for the rest of your life. No carbs is not one of those things. Half fat is also not one of those things. The multivitamin is actually coming under review by doctors but it's not discounted yet. The amount of water is the old 8x8 which has been discounted. Instead for hydration you look at your urine. You want to keep your urine as straw yellow to clear.

Please look at it this way, most information on this site flies against what ahoeinoirntopo says. If you want to follow it, that is your choice. I suggest instead to read the various stickies on the thread and do research outside of here as well.

Please listen to Jericho and Korrie and WineDeer the rest is misinformation and ýou could end up doing your self more harm than good.

Thanks. I agree with their sentiments. 0 carb would be a total joke for me because that is nothing I can maintain for sure, and this is the first time I've switched up my attitude about losing weight. I am not starving and I don't feel deprived, no carbs would drive me CRAZY.. besides the fact that keto breath is rough stuff.

Today my ratio wasnt too bad, 33% fat 32% carbs 34% protein :hurray:

Curious about the multivitamin thing I'll need to look that up.

I've been drinking slimfast as a breakfast replacement mostly for the nutrients, is this a good idea? It does keep me full and it's tasty but super expensive.

I am sorry, are you a starving african child that you just need to have all the food groups? No carb is very hard to attain, I wish, but overall under 30 grams of carbs is a minimum. I don't see why you all feel like such gentle little flowers that you just have to pamper yourself with food. You don't eat because it makes you feel good - you eat to survive. Change that mentality and eat correctly and soon food will lose its once coveted appeal. I no longer feel like eating for pleasure, not because food is 'blah' and bland and doesnt taste good - it does, but only while I eat it, and I dont crave it before or after. I eat it because I need it.

Although I suppose for the purposes of this post, while being hypoglycemic you will notice a decrease in the b.s. tolerance threshold and increase in 'real talk'

Your diet isn't for everyone and highly unmaintainable or desirable, for me at least. No reason to get up in arms about it.
