sternum pain

So when i do cable pull downs > these

my sternum slightly slightly hurts if i touch it or flex rib cage for a bit.
also when i do tricep dips the same thing happens. i do not get any
pain when i`m not doing these exercises so only when i work them.

Is this serious? should i go to a doctor to check this out?

note i`m only 16 and no on in my family ever had bone problems or so
also i`m 6ft 1 and i have small bones, my wrist is only 2 & 1/4 inches wide

I am having a similar issue. When I put my chin to my chest and push down hard, I feel a pain in the mid-right part of my sternum. When I place my hands in front of myself like I am going to pray and press my palms together hard enough I feel the same pain.

I am also figuring it is costochondritis.

Have you been officially diagnosed yet? If so, what is it that we have?

I have had numerous sternum pains while workign out and had everything under the sun tested for at one time or another. I had back spasms pulling my ribs finally diagnosed.

This topic comes up at every couple of months and no one is ever the only one on here to have had it so it is frequent.

Of course if its extreme never hurts to see a doctor.
 
i`m going to the doctor tomorow, (that is Monday, Gmt +01.00, right now its 7.05)
I will see what he says. many things are coming into my mind right now, thinking i might have fractures, or i`m not takign enough fats and hence the fat solluble vitamins etc... are not being absorbed , rofl and i just made sure i got may daily fats by taking like 2 teaspoons or so of extra V olive oil.
right now i KNOW that my bones are small cause for my size*(6'1) i have small bones, roughly the width of your arrow keys. so it might just be my bones etc...
also i`m remembering that i used to squash( my ribcage every now and them to see the sternum come out.
some many things are popping into my head, today i even screwed up my routine cause of it
 
My doctor told me that it was just some muscles that are inflammed and that i should rest it for a few days. considering it has been effecting me for a LONG time and its not the first time i do nothing for say a week or so, I dont see it working. but anyways, i will forgoe chest and the lat exercise and concentrate on arms, legs and traps a bit, these seem to be behind chest development
