Stepping Up

Okay, so starting tomorrow morning, I am re-starting the Curves diet. I did it a few months ago and was very successful, AND I remember being happy, having energy and soforth. We went on a 3 week vacation which completely destroyed any sense of healthy eating I had going on. We walked pretty much all day every day, but I am still back to my max weight of 183lbs, and I feel completely disgusted.
I go back to school in 3 weeks (as a teacher), and I'd like to start the year off feeling great.
The curves diet was awesome because I was rarely hungry - and it was loaded with Protein so I felt like I had enough energy

Wish me luck! Days 1-3 are the hardest, and I HAVE to stick with it! I threw out the left over ice cream (after a few bites), so there isn't much to snack on around here that will get me in trouble, haha.

If you want to know more about the Curves Diet, just ask :)

Start weight 183lbs
Long term Goal 160lbs
Short term goal 173lbs by September 4th (roughly 1 month):banghead:

Why not try to not call it a 'diet' and more of a lifestyle change? In order to maintain your weight loss you have to do it the rest of your life..what happens with these diets and programs is you follow the program, sometimes they have their own food (nutrisystem, jenny craig), you lose all the weight, and then you go back to your regular eating habits. I took jenny craig for about a month, spent a fortune on it...lost 15 lbs. Well, once I quit it I gained all the weight back plus 15 lbs more..

So over a week ago I decided to do it for real this time, making changes in my exercise and life style changes..you can still eat bad every once in awhile, just not all the time. I think this time I have a better chance of losing all the weight and keeping it off, I've only been doing the changes for a little over a week, I've only lost 4 lbs but I feel so much better, and I have alot less cravings now..eating heathly seems to help this too..

Hi Nicole! I can totally relate on the frustrations of regaining weight. You've set a realistic goal for yourself though so you are off to a great start!

I'll come by every now and then to say hi :)

Spark Erosion - I totally agree with calling it a lifestyle change!! The Curves "diet" actually has a long term plan that follows the weight loss plan, which makes it more attainable, and more likely that I won't regain the weight (so long as I don't go on another 3 week vacation and eat garbage).
One of the BEST parts of the change was that I was NEVER hungry and after a week - didn't have cravings anymore because my body gets everything I need, even during the weight loss part of the Curves plan.
The curves plan is in 3 phases, the third phase is the long-term phase, and if you find your weight creeping up again, you go back to phase one for a week and so on.
Anyway, I am looking forward to a fresh start, but know that the first 3 days are the worst because I haven't set accomplished any major health steps, so it's easy to "restart". I usually do great once I've gotten in 3 days of healthy eating because I don't want to start over, but after only one day of healthy eating, sometimes it's like "oh well, I can just start over"
But not this time!

Day 1

Woohoo! It's day 1 of my "lifestyle change" and I'm up early - which rarely happens, but I'm still affected by the 5/6 hour time change from the trip. I'm down a pound and a half (WOOHOO), however it's not because I went to sleep thinking diety thoughts - it's mainly because I weighed myself in the middle of the day yesterday, rather than the morning - however, it's still nice to see a drop in the scale regardless, haha.
MOrning weight 181.6lbs

Starting my curves food plan today -
Breakfast - Poached Egg and toast
Snack: Cheese string and cucumber slices
Lunch - Haven't thought that far ahead yet, but probably tuna or something

I need to take out a meat for dinner so that I am ready and don't get hungry. I was reading the Curves book and it says to evaluate where you think your struggles will be and my biggest one is waiting until I'm hungry before I eat - then I'm starving and want to eat anything and everything. So I am going to plan ahead and have food ready for when I need to eat :)

I'm doggy-sitting today, so no exercise (two giant dogs means walking is impossible) but I WILL go for a 30 minute walk with my dog tonight.
Gym will happen tomorrow - probably just for a walk/jog on the treadmill, but it's a start.

Nic

Edit: Oh! And I'm going to drink a TON of water today (well everyday, but starting with today) I need to flush out all that crap I ate on vacation !!

Hellooooooo,
Okay, so I'm down to 178.1lbs but once again - this is probably not a good reflection of my true weight - because I had weird stomach thing yesterday - probably a combo of the new diet, coming back from a trip, and my bodies need to detox all of the crap that was eaten on the trip, as my husband had the same issue the day before. I basically have NOTHING in my system, probably not even water, so I'm most likely a bit heavier than the 178.1. I stuck to my diet until lunch yesterday, and that was basically the last time I ate - I drank half a glass of tomato juice, and half a bottle of gatorade, but that's about it. If nothing else, at least my stomach will have "shrunk" so I won't be starving today haha - I have to drop the dogs off at the "daycare" and I plan to eat a planned breakfast when I get back. I don't want to eat beforehand - just in case the stomach thing isn't gone yet.

The last time I did the Curves diet, my body did a mini detox thing on day 3, so hopefully this episode covers that, and I am all set for my healthy eating!
Didn't walk yesterday either, but that is the plan for today.

Hello again,
NOt that anyone seems to be popping in these days, lol. I 100% stuck to my diet yesterday AND went for a one hour semi-brisk walk right before bed!! I woke up today feeling fantastic and weigh in was:

178.2lbs!!!

I totally have maintained after the whole stomach explosion! I definitely thought I'd be at least back to 180, so I'm super happy that I can hold strong here - makes it a LOT easier to kick it down to 170 when I have less than 10lbs to go!!
I just have to remember that the walking and exercise play a huge role in lowering the weight, the food is more the maintainer at this point becuase without exercise, my body naturally sits around 175-178, so now is when I have to step it up!!

Definitely a walk in the plans for today and then I think I will plan to hit the gym or go for a swim tomorrow.

Food is ready to go for today - roughy the same plans for food as yesterday, though not sure what dinner will be yet. The boys are going out for wings, and I think I am going to stay home altogether, I am not far enough along in my success to go out for wings and make a healthy "salad or wrap" choice. Bummer, but I will survive for now.

ANyway, it's a nice cool day and I think I am going to get some cleaning done!

Ciao!

Epic Fail - lol
So last night despite me knowing it was a bad idea, I went out for food with friends and such - food wise I did okay, I ordered the nachos - and didn't eat too many of them and nachos are actually a part of the curves menu (so long as you only eat the right amount), but the 2 pints of beer were no good. We then came home and had a fire out back with some friends and I hate a crap load of popcorn and had another beer.
Weight today - 181lbs. I'm not going to punch it into my ticker, in hopes that it will be back to 178lbs tomorrow if I smarten up today. The problem is I know that I am goign out drinking (excessively) Saturday night and that usually ends up in eating crap food as well *sigh*. But that doesn't happen often, so I guess I just have to suck it up and see it as a minor set back.
Hopefulyl going swimming today so that should help a bit on the exercise front.

Nicole
