Starting to get in shape...a Few Questions..

I al looking to lose 18-20 lbs & I know that what I eat plays a huge factor in that. I am starting to run about a mile a day.

I am needing some suggestions what foods I should stay away from (besides the obvious - Fried, Junk Fook, Sweets, Pop)?? Also, what should I start to inlcude to help me lose weight. What would also be best to eat for breakfast & should I eat before or after workingout?

I am currently working Overnights (11pm-8am). So my body is a bit screwy. Any suggestions on when the best time to workout is, as well, would be awesome!!

Thanks,

Consume:

Low calorie vegetables

Protein: fish, lean other meat, eggs, skim dairy, beans, nuts (if vegetarian, consume beans and nuts with each other or with whole grains to improve amino acid profile)

Good carbs: vegetables (but not fried potatoes), whole fruit, beans, whole grains

Good fats: fatty fish (limit high mercury types), nuts, avocados, non-hydrogenated vegetable oils

(But be sure that all of the above put together is not too many calories total.)

Avoid:

Bad carbs: added sugars and syrups, sugary drinks, fried carbohydrates

Bad fats: trans-fats from hydrogenated oil, fried carbohydrates

Excessively processed food

I agree 100% with that post.

The only crucially important thing which was not mentioned was make sure to consume water very often. It can come from high fruit/vegetable consumption as well as drinking water which should be your major beverage you consume.

Water is the most important essential nutrient in anybody's diet.
