Starting my diet today

Hi guys,
Iam starting my diet today (september 15th 2010). My current weight is 235 pounds and my target weight is 195 pounds by January 2011. I love alcohol, but from today I have completely stopped it. I have started diets before but have failed but this time Iam determined to achieve my goal.

My diet today:
Breakfast - One cup of hot water with honey and lemon.
One large bowl of Quaker Oats with water.

Lunch - Boiled Pasta with low fat Pasta sauce.

Snack - One big apple or Grape fruit.

Dinner - One bowl of mixed vegetables (spinach, peas, celery, lettuce, carrots etc), 2 pieces of boiled chicken and a glass of V8 veg juice.

Exercise - 1 hour of Resistance exercise.

Water - 3.5 liters through the day.

Iam feeling really healthy and hope to continue the same diet.

Congratulations on taking your first steps to getting healthy! Something you said struck a chord within me, and I felt a need to share one little thing that may help you along the way...

13 or so years ago, when I first lost 125 pounds, I called what I was doing a "diet"...after about 75 pounds down, I started calling it my "lifestyle". I learned over the course of the 14months it took me to drop all the extra weight that if I called it a diet, I'd most likely revert back to my old ways....so it was a way of life from that day forward....

Well, due to complacency, I ended up gaining it back after maintaining my healthy weight for a whopping 6yrs....hell, i had the battle won...but I changed my lifestyle yet again...got a motorcycle...rode to eat....bought a restaurant and cooked awesome foods to serve to my customers...the weight packed on...no time for exercise.

Make it a new lifestyle...then dont look back!

Hi Gerald and welcome to the forum!

Manda gave you great advice. The same thing happened to me: once I reached my goal weight I thought I was done "dieting" and went back to my old bad habits.
Make it a life change and make it affordable: don't cut too many calories, don't renounce everything you like and most important of all make it enjoyable. And don't forget to exercise! ;)

Thanks for all the support !!!!!

Had an awesome second day, maintained the diet. Had a good session of exercise and steam bath. Now all set to get a good 8 hours sleep......I just replaced my dinner with a tuna sandwich today.......feeling great and just wanna keep it goin......

Welcome back. Just remember everyday is new. You can't change the past so keep working on now. You succeeded yesterday so keep moving forward.
 
Hi Gerald, Welcome on board! Good luck and keep us posted! We have the same goal, pretty much. If you want a 'buddy' then PM me. I am doing Body for life, over the next 12 weeks then healthy lifestyle for 12 then BFL again. I hope to be around 170lbs by this time next year.

Hey guys,:hurray:

Iam very happy today.....it is my weekend and I attended a party but I still controlled myself from alcohol and junk food. I have never done that before. I maintained my diet and happy with the way things are going. Iam feeling great with my diet and feeling a lot energetic than before
