I have a hip joint that gives me trouble and way too young for surgery. This equipment is great because it's zero impact. I believe I'm getting some good results from regular use over the last six months. (I love bounding up the stairs at work leaving my 20-something friends heaving and struggling behind me.)
This six-day cycle has two days on the Stairmaster, 20 minutes @L13, a mid-cycle day with 30 min on the PreCor @ 10/12, followed by the two-day stairmaster routine. Day six I rest.
(The active days include weight training.)
OK, so the SM reports 8.5 MET, and 2.5 mi. PreCor reports 10 MET, and 3.1 mi. I trust the distance measurements, but are these MET calculations realistic? Both machines also report calorie consumption - to be believed?
Do these MET measurements provide apple-to-apple comparisons to depend on? If anyone else is using this equipment I'd like to hear about your results.
