I heard today that the spokesman for the Heart Attack Grill in Arizona died today. Blair River was 6'8” and weighed 572 lbs. and was only 29 years old. Their not saying what he died from.

“The Heart Attack Grill in Arizona serves up Bypass Burgers that contain up to 8000 calories, so it’s no wonder they call their wait staff “Heart Attack Grill Nurses.”
The Heart Attack Grill, a burger joint in Chandler, Arizona has become famous by offering up meals so unhealthy, they have nurses as wait staff. It’s a hospital themed restaurant that calls orders ‘prescriptions,’ and customers are ‘patients.’
They even go so far as to use a ‘toe tag’ (on the customers wrist) with what the person ordered and after your meal, if you’re so full you feel you can’t move, they’ll help you to your car in a wheelchair.
The menu has single, double, triple and quadruple bypass burgers with between a half pound and two full pounds of meat. Meals come with ‘Flatliner Fries’ and they also serve a range of side dishes and beverages that are just as bad for you.”

It is sad that he was so young.

I have never ate there because it is so high in calories. I don't want to eat my whole week worth of calories in one meal.

Really???? ..... is this really so unexpected? When you live horribly you die young.
While I do feel bad for him, I'm quite surprised at the reactions on this forum (ie surprised).
Could it be that this is fear for ourselves if we don't take better care of ourselves?
If it is.. it's time to wake up. Eat healthy, live health, and live; Don't... and you'll probably die way sooner than you expected.

Probably a harsh thing to say, but he brought it onto himself. He was projecting an image to make money out of his 'restaurant'. In all honesty, I can't say I feel sorry for him - he quite obviously knew the risks, and decided to take them.

Guess he took his own joke about the mild death just a tad too far.

Hopefully it will wake a few people up.

Here's the "story."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that maybe, juuuuust maybe, his weight had something to do with his death. But, what would I know. I'm not a doctor. I just have a thing called common sense.

Wait...the restaurant is owned by a former nutritionist?........
*shakes head*

"In some cases mild death will occur." I have yet to find out what "mild death" means.

I wonder how long their website will keep his ad up or if they will do anything at all. As of right now, it's still there.

We all make our own choices though.Everyone that walked into that restaurant made the choice to go there.

What we MUST put in perspective here, is that you can find food equally bad at almost every fast food and sit down restaurant. They just don't advertise how bad certain items are for you.

I doubt many places go up to 8,000 calories--Even the biggest meals at the restaurants round here go no higher than 3,000. 8,000 is just insane. I think every place should have calories on the menu, but it'll never happen.

I agree with San--He brought it on himself. Fat people tend to die early, sucks but it's true. Especially a guy that big.

That comment is complete media-frenzy drivel..... you know how the media is.
IF you eat the burger with 4 patties, bacon, and a hell of a lot of cheese, yeah, you can get 8000 calories there..... but that's the absolute MAX. I saw a news program about that restaurant a while back.
Here's a link to the quadruple bypass burger.

(hmmm.... I'm pretty sure they grill the buns in grease as well- not pictured.)

*shudders* So gross. Guess I'm thinking about English places when I'm talking about not getting up to 8,000 calories. Most places here either have a "healthy" menu or the calories on the boxes of take-out food and shit. A burger with 4 patties on it?! Sounds like a heart attack in a bun :(

A breakfast barm cake in Manchester or Sheffield could easily be 2-3000 calories.

Fried bacon/egg/sausage/onion/mushroom/black pudding all in a huge roll. Not a butter fried roll usually though.

I hate to admit it but I've eaten at Heart Attack Grill for free because I was over 350lbs. If I remember correctly I actually enjoyed the food and this place was actually filled with lots of college kids who were in way better shape than myself. This was actually long before I realized I had a problem with food and started to take steps to correct my issues.

I think whoever takes the heart attack grill seriously has serious problems of themselves. They are a big joke, funny to go and eat once while visiting the States but eating there regularly is just... silly.
They honestly, blatantly state their menu is unhealthy!
