Spice Tea's Weight Loss Adventure!

I just introduced myself in the Newcomer's section so I won't repeat myself here, but I do want to get started on my diary. I will add that I am 5'3'' and currently weigh 201 lbs.
I have to figure out a way to convince my body that it's time to cooperate with me in losing these 30 lbs that have to come off ASAP.

I usually eat a very healthy diet. I love eating vegetables and I drink only water every day. I love water! I probaby drink at least two gallons a day!
I have iced tea sometimes twice a week. I've been eating alot of salads lately with cherry tomatoes and green peppers. I even make my own oil & vinegar dressing. I've been baking frozen skinless chicken strips and putting them on my salad to get my protein. I also tried mixing in some canned & rinsed pinto beans into my salad and found it to be delicious!

I think my main problem is not getting enough exercise to burn off the few calories I have to consume to survive. I can't walk for very long distances without experiencing severe pain in my hips, legs and lower back. My left hip is higher than my right and it causes pain whenever I walk for more than 5 minutes. My broken body is sabatoging my efforts to lose the weight, but I must do it somehow

Any words of encouragement will always be appreciated!

welcome to your diary... :)

i wish you much success on your journey...

if you haven't you might want to set up an account at or one of the other many free online food journal sites - weight loss is a matter of using more calories than you take in - and it's helpful to know how many calories you are taking in... (it's often more than we think) but you also want to make sure you're not too low on the calorie scale either.

Enjoy your stay here.

7/7 ... 199.5 lbs

I'm down from 201 lbs yesterday! I'm very happy about that.

I usually am dying to eat out by the time Friday comes and we didn't last night, and it really paid off ! I usually gain about 3 pounds whenever I eat out. So, for me, that is what I am going to have to give up until I lose at least the first 10 lbs, because it is just too frustrating to keep losing the same 3 to 5 lbs every month. I guess that's why I've stayed at 200 lbs for the past 5 years! I eat right during the week and then blow it on the weekends. Well, no more of that for me!

I'm going to keep track of my measurements here to see how well I'm doing.

Waist...45 1/2"
Pudge...49" (lower abdomen)
Hips 46"

Left Upper Thigh...25"
Right Upper Thigh...24 1/2"

Above Knee...17 3/4" (Left)
Above Knee...17 7/8" (Right)

Left Calf...15 1/2"
Right Calf...16"

Congrats on you loss!I am you will lose if you continue to eat right and avoid your weeken binges. You will be surprises how much you can lose without excercise-but in the same breath excercise is a healthy habit.Maybe you can try some alternative excercise or pilates.

Hi rimay2k!

I did actually get in a bit of exercise last night before bed. I have a portable peddler that I used for about 30 minutes last night. I sit in a sturdy chair in front of the TV and it works my legs and stomach pretty well. I have to place something heavy behind it because it moves across the floor as I'm peddling hard :rotflmao:
I also do leg lifts when I'm on my bed, which is supposed to tighten my lower abdominal muscles. I've tried to do side leg lifts (lying on my side) but that hurts my hips afterwards, so I have had to stop doing those.
I can't do any exercises involving sitting on the floor because I can't even get down on the floor because of my silly stiff hips!
So, anyway, there are a few things I can do to get fit, I just really wish I could get up on a normal bike and go riding like I could in my 20's.

For me, it's going to be controlling my calories more than anything.

7/8...198.5 lbs

I lost another 1 1/2 lbs! Yippee!
The pedaling I've been doing right before bed seems to be working. I was really tired last night, so I only did 15 minutes but it still helped.

I just ate vegetables and salad with chicken throughout the day and for a snack a bowl of cherries. I drank water all day. I did have one Sweet & Salty Cashew granola bar after breakfast, but that was my only treat.

I'm feeling good about this. I'm finally on my way to a thinner me!

Congrats on your loss thus far... I'm sure its only the beginning. You're doing really well with your eating and exercise. Its great that your doing all the exercise your body will allow you too without hurting yourself!

Keep up the amazing progress=0)

Boam46,

Thanks for your support!

It's going to be a challenge to stay away from eating out, because whenever we do go out I usually order the most expensive, biggest meal on the menu to make sure I thoroughly enjoy my time out. I always take home half, but it has been defeating my previous weight loss attempts. So, no more for a while!

Eating out is always really tough. If I'm going to be eating somewhere I try to see if I can find there menu online and even better nutrition information and decide what I am going to eat before I get there. By doing that I don't make a last minute decision ... I don't even have to look at the menu which may influence me to change my mind.

7/10...197.5 lbs

I just got back from the grocery store to pick up all the ingredients for the Weight Watcher's Cabbage Soup. It's cooking on the stove right now. I'm going to try to give my diet a little boost this week. I'm trying to get down to 195 lbs by the 18th of this month (my 50th BD). I've lost weight quickly on this diet before and it's time to try it again!

7/11...197 lbs

I'm down a half pound from yesterday.

Yesterday, I started my cabbage soup diet. I only had 2 big bowls, one for lunch and one for dinner and that was all I needed! I couldn't believe how long I stayed full! I didn't have any cravings for anything sweet, either. I'm truly amazed how satisfied I was throughout the day. I did add chopped zucchini, to give it some extra chunkiness.

This morning I got up at 6AM and did my exercises in the livingroom. I did my routine for 30 minutes, and I'll use my pedaler tonight before bed for 30 min.

I, also measured myself this morning and I'm down 1/2 inches in both my waist and my pudge (lower abs), so thats good news!

Please be careful - that's an extremely low number of calories to take in a single day -- don't stay on that plan for too long..

Yeah, I know what you're saying! I'm just determined to get to 195 by my birthday on the 18th, so I can relax and enjoy celebrating 50 years! :jump:

7/12...196 lbs

I lost another pound!

I did listen to maleficent and added chicken to my soup for each meal to get some protein in and to add more calories. I'm feeling great!
I even resisted a major temptation last night. My husband asked me to make a batch of cheesecake-chocolate chip bars for a work luncheon that is today. He brought home the ingredients yesterday and I made them and I didn't even taste one (to make sure they turned out alright). That was a victory for me!

Thanks mal!

I see you've come a long way on your weight loss journey! I'm still in a size 20 for shirts and usually 22's for pants, so you probably look better than me right now! :rotflmao:

I don't believe that for one minute! Never stop believing in yourself, you will get there sooner than you think!
