My support system is huge. From training partners, to people I work with, to coaches, to people on this and other forums, to the people I have competed against throughout my training career.
I have found that there is a need to seek out like minded people, smarter people, coaches, training partners in order to make the best progress.
To all the "do it yourself-ers" out there -
Part of the training experience is the people you meet, the experiences you have together, motivating each other, discussing training, and education. Even the bonding that is done when hanging out outside of training.
The relationships built are some of the best reasons for training.
The other thing I have noticed about training -
In order to stick with it for the long haul you have to love it. Sure there will be ups and downs in motivation, but if you love it, you will always come back to it.
That passion is what motivates us to learn and meet people who we can get help from as well as to help.
There are a million ways to learn. 999,992 of them involve people.
Anyhow, that is a basic look into my support system.
