sore wrists, any advice?

hey all, i love working out and i work out a difrent body part every other day. anyway 4 weeks ago i when i lifted dumbells to work out my arms or do upder dumbell press for my chest, my wrists hurt but i still kept going. 1 week after i was working out and my wrists got a little bit worse and i woke up the next day and my left wrist i couldnt even lift my bottle water thats how much it hurt. now its 3 weeks later and they still hurt i went to the doc he said it was just spraind but come on 3 weeks i should see it healing a bit right? i was thinking maybe i should work out my forarms with light weight to get my wrists stronger. i lost abour 10 pounds in 3 weeks because i wasnt working out. im so pissed about this. has this happend to anyone? and how long did it take you to get back to the gym? and one more question is it a good idea to work out the wrists with light weights while they are still sore? Thanks all

Listen to your doctor. If it's a sprain, it might take upwards of a month or more to heal. Do you have anything that holds it steady, like wraps? Use those. Don't work with weights, and no, you didn't lose 10 lbs of muscle. It was most likely that you a.) lost water weight, b.) took a massive dump, c.) have a broken scale, or d.) all of the above.

lol LeiYunFat. ill go with A and B...No i dont have those wrist wraps but im gona go to GNC today and buy some, i think i should have used those to start with...what do you suggest i can do to keep my body the same and strenth the same while not working out. should i work out with very light weights so i can just feel the burn with enough reps? Thanks alot

No, stay completely off your wrist. You can do bodyweight squats, crunches, leg lifts, running, soccer, etc. Anything that doesn't require your arms. If it's already been three weeks, just stick with it. Your body will thank you.
