Something New

Hey, I'm a graduate student in Michigan and starting the next phase of my weight loss journey. It's a journey that's been fifteen years (I'm 25) and I'm determined to lose the excess weight but more importantly keep it off this time.

Hi soulsnette, welcome and glad to see you! Yes, keeping it off is the bottom line of fat loss. The great majority of fat losers have done the diet thing only to gain it all back and more. The reason being is, they didn't change the mind, they still love those dangerous and unhealthy foods, in fact, they can't wait to stop the diet.

To keep it off for good requires a total commitment to a change in lifestyle, you have to realize first of all why bad food is bad, the damage it does to the body. Your young, now's a good time to start.

Anyway, look around the forums, hopefully you'll find what works for you.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with Knotty that a lifelong change of lifestyle is the best way to ensure that the weight losses that you achieve are not regained a few weeks or months later... The combination of being more active and eating healthily at an appropriate calorie level needs not to end just because your weight hits a magic number...

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
