So.. This is my diary...

So, I'm gonna take a crack at this. I'm doing this completely on my own, and really need the back up and motivation that everyone seems to have on this site. I have a 10 month old daughter, and since she's been born, of course, my body has never been the same. Before she was born, I never had to watch what I ate, or exercise, so this is a huge change for me. I'm not sure I have the will power to diet and exercise everyday, but let me tell you I sure have the guilt. I'd like to lose about 20 lbs. I want to tone and shape up. Mainly, I want to become healthy. It's really hard when everyone around me is eating fast food and junk all the time! It's easier to just give in. I need some help with diet and exercise plans, so anything anyone has that will help, please feel free to share! Thanks! Wish me luck!!!

Spend some quality time with the stickied threads -especially in nutriton, exercise and on topic - this will give you a good head start on putting togther a plan for yourself.. It's really not complicated.. Work within a reasonable calorie goal -and keep track of your calories with a site like .

You don't need luck - you need consistency.. that will get you to where you want to be... :D

Much success gettig to where you want to be.. .

Hi Lace. Welcome and good luck! You certainly do have the will power. I can understand with a 10 mon. it will be hard. I know the energy level is low with a small child. If you will put in the work for a while though you will actually have more energy.
Look better, feel better, have more energy = well worth the effort

Plus you want to make a good example for your daughter. You will have an easier time keeping her healthy if you are healthy yourself.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I'll definatly take a look at those stickies. And you're right about my daughter. I want her to grow up healthy as well. Funny, I always watch what she's eating but never take that time for myself... things are about to change.

So far, things seem to be doing ok. My biggest challenges are fast food and pop, so far so good. Everytime I go somewhere it's hard to not get a pop, but it's been about a week now. I'm really proud of myself. Also, I'm on the go a lot, so when stopping to eat, I've been getting wraps and subs instead of nuggets and fries. I really need to learn to calorie count though. I'm very new at this and still learning. How do I know how many calories are in what I eat? Do I just guesstimate??

Til next time!!! Thanks!

seems to be the most popular calorie counter. Also most of what you eat from home will have a nutrition label. Restaurants usually have the info on their web-sites. The pop will get easier. Here is something that helps me.

A 12 oz pop is around 150 cal. Most fast food places have a 24 oz. cup or larger. So say get a 12 oz Coke. 150 calories is what I burn in my 20 minute session of run/jogging. So if I had drank a Coke yesterday. My run would have been an even swap. Of course I know there would be other benefits from the cardio but I am just talking calories.

Welcome to the forum Lace! I have a small suggestion that you may or may not have thought of already. If you get some free time, check out the nutritional pages of the fast food places you like to eat at. It will blow your mind how bad some of those meals are for you. If you do this and have an idea of what calories each item has, you'll know what you can order.

If going to Wendy's I'll get the $1 salad, potato or chili.. sometimes I get the potato and chili and put the chili on the potato instead of butter and sour cream. It's not too shabby.

I have a similar strategy for other fast food places, but I've cut way back on dining out lately so the only fast food I've had in a long time is an Arby's Roast Beef Sandwich or a subway ham & turkey sub.

Good luck on your journey and I hope to see you around more!
