So, should I cut down on carbs after all?

I've always been really big on eat carbs. I love carbs, I support carbs that come from the right sources, I would never encourage cutting them out to anyone. I love 40% carbs. I love healthy balance.

I had it all figured out.

But more recently I've been finding that I'm getting physically exhausted from carbs, to the point where I couldn't even sit down and focus on a book. I have tradtionally had a piece of Whole Grain Bread (absolutely no white bread in my diet) with my eggs pretty much every morning.

My entire breakfast usually includes 2 eggs, 1 dairy (yogurt or milk), lots of fruit, and 1 piece of whole grain bread. It's my attempt to get all of the food groups in one day.

But, I just get so tired.

So I cut out that one piece of whole grain bread, had the same conditions as normal otherwise, and I feel much better.

Is it possible cutting back on these carbs is what I need to do ? Is it safe? Is it healthy to lose many servings of grain a day?

At one point my doctor told me to cut back on carbs as well because of a "metabolic syndrome". I ignored him because I didn't want to do that, so I don't even know what that is.

Yup, I'd cut back then. Everyone responds to carbs uniquely. If you're feeling run down and croggy after eating a good bit of carbs, there's a good chance you are carb sensitive.

Well, I was wondering maybe if it just wasn't too many carbs at once as well..but I will give it a try. Thank you for your input.

I generally believe in simply listening to what your body tells you. If you feel tired with the carbs and you feel better without them, then just cut down a little bit on carbs. Do it gradually, adjust as needed, and obviously don't go to any extremes. *shrug*

Yeah, I would just cut out the bread in the morning. Or, as an alternative, try your grains in the evenings. I know it has been known to help people sleep - and if it's making you groggy in the mornings, and you are still concerned with getting your grains in, it might be a good change.
